The first set was a battle and swayed back and forth with the lead changing hands four times and tied another nine times.  TNU took a 12-9 lead and neither team separated from the other until late. With Trevecca leading 19-17 the Eagles outscored the Trojans 8-2 for the win.

Trevecca scored the first point of the second set, but never lead again. Embry Riddle pulled ahead 19-11 and Trevecca closed the gap to just four (21-17), but could not get any closer.

It was a slow rise for the Trojans who did not score more than two points consecutively until the very end during the rally. On four different occasions the Trojans did get a side out combined with point on serve. On the fourth occasion the Trojans pulled within one at 21-20. Then, with ERU leading 23-21 and seemingly headed for the three-set victory, an attack error, fueled by a block by Katelyn Atkinson (JR/Hermitage, TN) and Loren Bennett (SR/Ooltewah, TN), preceded Atkinson serving out with three consecutive points on serve and a final 4-0 run for the win.

The fourth set was all Eagles as they turned a 2-1 Trojan lead into a 10-3 advantage and the Trojans were never able to get any closer than five (14-9) the rest of the way.

Alex Reuter (FR/Brentwood, TN) (10) was the only Trojan to reach double-figures in kills while adding four block assists. Atkinson added nine kills, five block assists, a solo block, and 14 digs. Bennett added 37 assists and 13 digs as well as four kills, a solo block, and two block assists. Stephanie Bouchard (SO/Chattanooga, TN) added 10 digs. The Knights held the lead from start to finish in set two. With BU leading 11-8, the Knights scored five straight for a 16-8 lead and never let the Trojans get within five the rest of the way.

The Trojans were more competitive in the third set, a set that saw five ties and three lead changes. After BU held the lead early on, the Trojans took a 14-11 lead with the help of a sideout and then four points on the serve of Allison Boe (SR/Murrieta, CA). BU scored seven of the next eight points for a 18-15 lead. Trevecca made it 23-21 after a attack error by BU, but the final two points went the way of the Knights for the win.
