Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Trevecca volleyball team (3-3) started hot and finished off strong in a three-set win over visiting Union University (0-1) on Wednesday at the Trojan Fieldhouse.

Trevecca will host the Scott Jones Classic on Friday and Saturday. Trevecca will play on match on Friday at 6 PM and two on Saturday (10 AM and 2 PM). Several of the late Scott Jones former players will be here on Saturday for a gathering at Noon and plans are being made to recognize them prior to the 2 PM match. Scott Jones coached Trevecca for 11 seasons prior to his passing eight years ago.

Trevecca coach Jayme Crowley said of her team, "We used the Huntsville trip to let everyone play and now we have settled into a rotation. The starters did their job and everyone else came in and filled their role. I was very proud of the team tonight, up and down the lineup. It is always good to win."

Trevecca opened with a 25-11 win in the first set and followed that up with a pair of 25-20 decisions in the final two sets.

In the first set Trevecca had a .375 attack percentage with 12 kills and three errors in 24 total attacks. Trevecca scored the first six points and led 14-2. Clare Taylor (FR/Milan, TN) had served on seven of Trevecca's points in the first set.

In the second set Union came on strong and led 14-13 near the midway point of the set. Trevecca closed out with a 11-6 run that included well-rounded serving from Zakia Jackson (SR/Hermitage, TN), Katelyn Atkinson (JR/Hermitage, TN), Loren Bennett (SR/Ooltewah, TN), and Mia Faragalli (FR/Franklin, TN). The first three scored two points apiece and Faragalli served out three-straight for the win.

The third set was close most of the way. Trevecca led 20-19 and after a sideout, Clare Taylor served three straight points for match point. Union got a sideout, but Zakia Jackson took a set from Loren Bennett for the match-point kill after a Christa Karns serve.

Atkinson led the balanced attack with 10 kills and just missed the double-double with nine digs and added two service aces. Atkinson had a .318 attack percentage for the match. Stephanie Bouchard (SO/Chattanooga, TN) and Clare Taylor each had seven kills. Taylor added 12 digs and thee service aces. Allison Boe had nine digs as the libero. Alex Reuter (FR/Brentwood, TN) had a block and two block assists. Reuter also added six kills. Loren Bennett led the team with 28 assists.ÂÂ
