Box Score 2 LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team (26-15, 15-1 G-MAC) split a pair of games at Bellarmine University (22-20) on Wednesday at Knights Field. Game one went the way of the Knights 6-5, the Trojans more than doubled the Knights in game two, 12-5.

Trevecca will host Cedarville University (17-18, 9-7 G-MAC) on Friday and Saturday for their final home Great Midwest Athletic Conference series. Saturday will feature Senior Day for Clayton Nichols (SR/Franklin, Tenn.), Justin Dailey (SR/Clarksville, Tenn.), and Michael Purcell (SR/New Johnsonville, Tenn.).

Bryson Shelton (SO/Powell, Tenn. ) was 5-for-8 on the day with six RBI, two home runs, a double, and he scored three times. In the fourth inning of game two he had a single, two runs scored, a home run, and two RBI.

GAME ONE
Trevecca opened the game with a two-run top of the first, but saw the lead cut in half with a Knight run in the bottom half of the inning. Both teams scored two runs in the third for a 4-3 TNU lead. BU scored two in the fourth to take a 5-4 lead. Trevecca tied it in the top of the seventh, but allowed the winning run in the bottom half of the inning.

Trevecca had 10 hits with Bryson Shelton pacing the TNU with a 3-for-4 game. Shelton added three RBI, a run scored, a home run, and a double. Nick Kristinus (FR/Murfreesboro, Tenn.) was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Kristinus also connected for a home run.

Ivy Starling started and pitched four innings, allowing five runs on seven hits and a walk. Ryan Arington (SO/Cincinnati, Ohio) (1-1) came on in the seventh and allowed a run on two hits and a walk, taking the loss.ÂÂ

GAME TWO
Bellarmine scored a run in the bottom of the first for a 1-0 lead. Trevecca scored a run in the third to tie the game at 1-1. The Knights regained the lead with a single run in the bottom of the third. In the top of the fourth Trevecca put the game away with a 8-run inning. The Knights did score three in their half of the fourth, but still trailed 9-5 at that point. Trevecca scored a single run in the sixth and two in the seventh.

Jon Newman (FR/Gilbert, S.C.) (1-0) got his first career win with an inning of work. He allowed three hits and three unearned runs while walking one and striking out two. Newman's work came in the fourth. Mason Dunn (JR/Goodlettsville, Tenn.) started and allowed two runs - one earned, on three hits and had five strikeouts.

In the eight-run fourth, Bryson Shelton started the rally with a lead-off single. Ethan Hurt (SO/Pegram, Tenn.) singled next. Two outs and a wild pitch later, both Shelton and Hurt had moved up a bag. Clayton Nichols doubled down the line in left, scoring Hurt and Shelton. Tyler Tichenor (JR/Centertown, Ky) followed with a single, scoring Nichols. Carter Wiseman (FR/Hendersonville, Tenn.) kept the hit parade going with a single. Hunter Newman (JR/Chapmansboro, Tenn.) reached on a double, scoring Tichenor. Nick Kristinus singled to right, driving in Newman and Wiseman. Bryson Shelton, batting for the second time in the inning, hit a two-run blast. Trevecca scored eight runs on nine hits and sent 12 men to the plate. Ethan Hurt also had two hits in the inning.
