Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team (21-14) lost 4-2 at Jackson Field to Lee University (24-15-1) on Tuesday evening. The Trojans and Flames are both former members of the TranSouth Athletic Conference. Lee has a four-game winning streak in the series.

Trevecca will host G-MAC foe Ohio Valley University (7-19, 4-8 G-MAC) Friday and Saturday for a four-game conference schedule. Two games each day, beginning with a nine-inning affair on Friday at 4 p.m., followed by a 7-inning game. Saturday will start with a 7-inning game at Noon and will be followed by a 9-inning game. TNU leads the all-time series with Ohio Valley 3-1.

Trevecca heads into the weekend series with the Scots leading the G-MAC with a 11-1 record. Alderson Broaddus is second with a 14-2 G-MAC record. Cedarville University is third at 8-4.

Seven different Trojans had a hit, but none more than one as the Flames held the Trojans to their lowest run total in the last 16 games. The loss also ends the Trojans five-game win streak. Still, the Trojans have won 12 of their last 15.

Lee pulled ahead with a two-run fourth and after Trevecca scored a run in the bottom of the inning, the Flames extended their lead to 4-1 with another two-runs in the fifth. Trevecca responded with a single run in the bottom of the fifth and that is where the scoring ended for both teams.

Trevecca used five pitchers while Lee threw four. Ivey Starling (JR/Brentwood, Tenn.) (3-2) started and took the loss with four innings of work, the most for any of the five Trojan hurlers. Starling gave up three hits and two runs – both earned, with a walk and four strikeouts. Ryan Arington (SO/Cincinnati, Ohio), Michael Purcell (SR/New Johnsonville, Tenn.), and Mason Dunn (JR/Goodlettsville, Tenn.) combined to pitch shutout ball in the final four innings.

Lee University is coached by former Trojan baseball product Mark Brew. Brew, a 1993 graduate of Trevecca was a Trojan assistant coach for three years following his four-year career under then Trevecca coach Dave Altopp. The NAIA Scholar-Athlete was named Trevecca's Outstanding Christian Athlete as a senior when he produced a 4-0 record with four saves and a 1.80 earned run average as the Trevecca closer.
