Box Score 2 NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Trevecca (12-11, 3-1 G-MAC) beat Kentucky Wesleyan College (11-6, 1-3 G-MAC) twice on Saturday at Jackson Field, pushing the four-game opening weekend conference series in favor of the Trojans three games to one. Trevecca beat KWC 13-2 in the days opener, a seven inning game. The series finale also went the Trojans way, a 10-2 Trevecca win in nine innings.

Trevecca will visit Salem International University (3-17, 1-3 G-MAC) next weekend in Salem, W.Va. for another four-game G-MAC conference series beginning Friday, March 27 at 11 a.m.

Bryan Smith (SO/Unionville, Tenn) pitched a gem and the Trojans pounded out 12 hits to get the win. Smith (3-1) pitches seven innings and allowed eight hits, two runs, one earned run, three walks, and had three strikeouts. Hunter Newman (JR/Chapmansboro, Tenn.) hit his ninth home run, which also gave him a team-leading 31 RBI, pacing the Trojans to a 13-2 win.ÂÂ

Trevecca, playing as the visiting team since the games were originally scheduled for Owensboro, but weather conditions made the KWC fields unplayable this week, took the lead 3-0 with a three-run third. Following a Panther run in the bottom of the third, Trevecca added three more in the fourth for a 6-1 Trojan lead. Trevecca went on to score in five consecutive innings with a run in the fifth and sixth innings and a five-run seventh capped the Trojan scoring. Wesleyan scored on more run in the fifth.

In all Trevecca had 12 hits, but committed three errors. Wesleyan had eight hits and an error. Five Trojans had multi-hit games. Tyler Burns (FR/Tullahoma, Tenn.) led the way with a 3-for-5 game with three runs scored, two doubles, a home run, and three RBI. Hunter Newman provided pop with a 2-for-5 game with a run scored, a double, a home run, a stolen base, and four RBI. Carter Wiseman (FR/Hendersonville, Tenn.) was 2-for-3 with three runs scored, a hit by pitch, a double, a triple, a stolen base, and three RBI. Tyler Tichenor (JR/Centertown, Ky) was 2-for-4 with three runs scored, a walk, a double, and an RBI. Cameron Boyett (JR/Rockvale, Tenn.) was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

Trevecca tagged Wesleyan for another 10 runs and 10 hits in game two and held the Panthers to two runs on seven hits in the 10-2 win. Both teams had a error. Jarred Jones (1-3) got his first collegiate win pitching seven innings and allowing six hits, two runs – both earned, with no free passes, and four strikeouts. Austin Sisk (JR/Kodak, Tenn. ) came on for two innings of nearly perfect pitching again. Sisk allowed a hit while striking out two.

Tichenor stayed hot in game two going 4-for-5 and added a run scored, two doubles, and two RBI. For the day, combining with game one, he was 6-for-9 day four runs scored, a walk, three doubles, and three RBI.

Nick Kristinus (FR/Murfreesboro, Tenn.) and Ethan Hurt (SO/Pegram, Tenn.) each had a 2-for-5 game at the plate. Kristinus had a run scored while Hurt hit his ninth double of the year, his ninth stolen base, and added four RBI. Hurt is now third on the team with 15 RBI, he is time with Zach Tompkins (JR/Mt. Juliet, Tenn.), who also has 15 RBI on the year after a three RBI game.
