Trevecca Softball | Trojans Take Wins From Alderson Broaddus, Conference Opener

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Trevecca softball team (8-4, 2-0 G-MAC) hosted Alderson Broaddus University (5-6, 0-2 G-MAC) for their first Great Midwest Athletic Conference double header of the year on Friday. Trevecca took wins in both games, 3-1 in game one and an 8-0 five inning victory in game two.

The Trojans and Battlers will play a second double header on Saturday, March 21 starting at 12 p.m. The Trojans head to Cleveland, Tenn. on Wednesday, March 25 to play Lee University.

GAME ONE
Trevecca scored the first three and only runs of the game in their half of the first inning for a 3-0 lead. Alderson Broaddus snuck in a run in the sixth. TNU finished on top, 3-1.

Mackenzie Leding (SR/Springfield, Tenn.) was 2-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Daniellle Tyson was 2-3 with a RBI. Lindsey Stephens (SR/Somerset, Ky.) was 1-3 with a double and two RBI.

Haley Fagan (JR/Cornersville, Tenn.) picked up another win with a complete game effort. Fagan allowed eight hits and a walk while striking out seven. She gave up just one run.  

GAME TWO
Game two was shortened to five innings as the Trojans forced the eight-run rule into action with a 8-0 victory. Trevecca scored a run in the first and four in the second for 5-0 lead. In the bottom of the fifth Trevecca added three more with just one out in the inning.

Four Trojans, Kelsey Kemp (SR/Lawrenceburg, Tenn.), Leing, Alex Richardson (SO/Ten Mile, Tenn.), and Kat Burbrink (FR/Hamilton, Ohio) all had two hits. Kemp added two RBI with a double and a home r4un. Leding had a double and Brantley added a home run. Burbrink had a stolen base. Bailey Alexander (FR/Glasgow, Ky.) also had a double.

In all, Trevecca pounded out 12 hits while the Trojan pitchers allowed just two Battler hits.

Kelsey Kemp was in the circle and pitched the complete game shutout. Kemp allowed the two hits and three walks while striking out three.
