The Trojans continue on to Philippi, W.Va. to play conference leader Alderson Broaddus University (17-7, 8-3 G-MAC) on Saturday, February 21 at 3 p.m. CST. The Trojans are 0-3 in the all-time series with their most recent loss, 72-94, earlier this season when they hosted the hot-shooting Battlers on January 22.
Davis & Elkins took off at the start of the game with a 6-0 run. Trevecca got their feet under them and saw the first tie of the game, 10-10, at 15:43. Then they took the lead on an 8-0 run. The Senators chipped at the deficit but a layup from Byron Sanford (JR/Louisville, KY) and completing the three-point play by hitting the and one free throw after drawing a foul, combined with a three from Tyrell Corlew (JR/Louisville, KY) at the buzzer, was enought to maintain that eight point lead at the half, 40-32.
Corlew tapped back into that three point fire and to sink one right out of the break. He'd complete a personal 6-3 run with a layup, drawing the and one with a D&E foul, and hitting the free throw. A pair of layups from Sanford would make that a 10-3 Trevecca run and a 15-point lead, the largest of the game. At 12:22, Corlew hit his first of five more threes to lead Trevecca to the 86-81 finish.
Tyrell Corlew finished with 29 points, including hitting 7-of-10 from three-point range, for the Trojans. Byron Sanford threw in 17 points, five steals, and five assists. Jalen Palm (JR/Louisville, KY) also had five assists and contributed 12 Trojan points. Matt Gamberoni (JR/Mulhouse, France) lead the boards with seven.
