Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Trevecca baseball team (1-5) split a double header with Maryville University - St. Louis (2-4) on Saturday at Jackson Field. The Trojans fell 4-9 in the first game on Friday, February 13. (RECAP), but bounced back for a 18-7 win in game one on Saturday before falling 12-10 in the series finale in Saturday's second game. Trevecca colleted six stolen bases, six doubles, one triple, and four home runs in the three-game series.

The Trojans will host another three game series starting with a single game on Friday, February 20 at 3 p.m. followed by a double header on Saturday, February 21 starting at 12 p.m. against Walsh University.

GAME ONE
In the first inning, Maryville's Nam stepped up to the plated a sent one over left field green monster for a home run. The Saints scored one more run, for two runs off of three hits and two Trojan errors to finish the top of the first. Trevecca answered when, after singles from Tyler Burns (FR/Tullahoma, Tenn.) and Hunter Newman (JR/Chapmansboro, Tenn.) put two on, Nick Kristinus (FR/Murfreesboro, Tenn.) stepped up to the plate and hit a run-scoring double, driving in Burns and moving Newman to third. A sacrifice fly from Zach Tompkins (JR/Mt. Juliet, Tenn.) scored Newman, notting the score at 2-2.

Ryan Arrington grabbed a bag off a walk in the second inning and Chad Sutton (FR/Independence, Mo.) hit a home run over left field wall putting the Trojans up 4-2. Carter Wiseman (FR/Hendersonville, Tenn.) followed with a single and Tyler Tichenor (JR/Centertown, Ky) cranked a home run over right field wall to triple the Trojans score, 6-2. Three players drew a walk for the Trojans (Sutton, Wiseman, Tichenor) at the bottom of the third to load the bases for Burns who delievered a single to left field. With the help of an error in left field, that single scored those three walks for a 9-2 TNU advantage.

In the fourth inning, Maryville loaded the bases and with two outs, Nam, who hit a grand slam for the Saints on Friday, came to the plate. With Michael Purcell (SR/New Johnsonville, Tenn.) pitching, and five strikeouts already under his belt, he threw a strike for the first pitch, Nam swung and missed on the second pitch, and was caught looking on the third. At the top of the fifth, the Saints scored two more off of three hits and one Trojan error, but Trevecca answered with four runs off the same, three hits and one Saints error. First, Sutton hit a single up the middle and then advanced to second on a passed ball. Wiseman walked and Tichenor snuck in a bunt to load the bases. Maryville's Reynolds walked Burns to give the Trojans a run. A single from Newman brought in Wiseman and Tichenor. Burns scored on ground out from Kristinus. After five innings the Trojans had built their lead to 13-4.ÂÂ

The Trojans loaded the bases again in the bottom of the sixth, with a single from Sutton, Wilseman reached on an error from the Saints shortstop, and an error at first base helped Tichenor to grab a bag. This time, Maryville's Van Volkenberg walked Burns to bring Sutton in and give the Trojans a run. A sacrifice fly from Newman scored Wiseman and Trevecca's lead grew to 15-4.

In the seventh inning it was the Saints who loaded the bases, but only plated one on a walk.
In the bottom of the eighth, Trevecca's Wiseman, reached with a lead-off double down the left field line. Burns followed with a triple to right center to drive in Wiseman. An error from the shortstop put Newman on base and scored Burns from third. Micah Blount (JR/Birmingham, Ala.) and Ethan Hurt (SO/Pegram, Tenn.) both hit singles for the Trojans and loaded the bases for Van Volkenberg to walk Arrington and bring Newman in giving the Trojans their final run of the game. The Saints did squeeze in one more run in the top of the ninth but the Trojans would finish on top, 18-7.

GAME TWO
A single and two bunts from Maryville in the top of the third put a runner on third for the first time in the game and set up a bases loaded situation. Maryville's Ridings was hit by a pitch, giving the Saints the first run of the game. A two-run single scored two more to put the Saints up 3-0.

Trevecca saw the most of their action in the bottom of the eighth inning. It started with Newman getting walked. Bryson Shelton (SO/Powell, Tenn. ) followed with a single to right field. Ethan Hurt walked before Sutton step up and hit a grand slam. Clayton Nichols (SR/Franklin, Tenn.) hit a single to left field then stole second and advanced to third on a passed ball. Wiseman hit a single up the middle to bring Nichols in then stole second base himself. Tichenor hit a single to the pitcher and an error by the pitcher allowed Wiseman to score and advanced Tichenor to second. Burns hit a single to the shortstop. Newman hit a single through the left side to bring Tichenor in and advance Burns to second. After a pitching change, Shelton singled to third base, for another bases full situation. Hurt came up and hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Burns for the Trojans eighth run of the inning off eight hits and two Saints errors to take the lead, 8-3.

In the top of the fifth, the Saints brought in five runs off five hits and one Trojan error to tie the game. At the top of the sixth, they would bring in three runs off three hits and two Trojans errors to take the lead. Nam would grab the last run for the Saints in the seventh inning off a single and a stolen base to put the Saints at 12-8.

Austin Moyer (SO/Goodlettsville, TN) came in to pinch hit for the Trojans and hit a single through the left side. Tichenor singled the same way and Burns sent one down the right field line for a double and an RBI, scoring Moyer. Another single from Newman would bring Tichenor in. Two runs off of four hits for the Trojans would not be enough and the Saints would finish on top, 12-10.
