Box Score MASON, Ohio – The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (19-11) defeated #1 seed Alderson Broaddus University (14-18) in three sets (25-17, 27-25, 25-18) to advance to the 2015 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championship Final. The six-team championship will conclude at Noon on Saturday with #1 seed and regular season champion Cedarville defending their championship against the Trojans. Trevecca is 2-8 all-time versus the Yellow Jackets. Trevecca lost two heart-breakers versus CU during the regular season this year.

Cedarville University improved to 19-14 after defeating #3 seed Davis & Elkins College (15-16) in the other semifinal on Friday.

Katelyn Atkinson (JR/Hermitage, TN) broke the G-MAC record for points in a season. Atkinson now has 543.5 points on the season, breaking the record set by Alyx Henry last year. Henry scored 525 points last year, Atkinson has 531 points this year.
Atkinson is now the G-MAC season leader in kills with 477, breaking the record set by Alyx Henry and her 455 last year.
Atkinson became the G-MAC's current all-time career leader in kills (1,276), surpassing Ohio Valley's Alyx Henry.
The Trojans have won seven consecutive matches and after winning the first two sets against KWC, they had a 17-set winning streak.
Trevecca has won 21 of their last 23 sets.
The Trojans are 6-2 on a neutral court this season.

Trevecca trailed 8-7 in the opening set, but after a side out on a kill from Clare Taylor (FR/Milan, TN), Taylor served two straight points for Trevecca for a 10-8 TNU lead. Later, with TNU up 15-13, Katelyn Atkinson got a side out with a kill and then Zakia Jackson (SR/Hermitage, TN) served five straight points for a 21-13 TNU lead. Trevecca won the set 25-17.

Trevecca jumped ahead 6-1 in set two, but ABU rallied to take a 15-14 lead. The match was tight the rest of the way. Trevecca served for the set win at 24-23 and 25-24 before eventually getting the win (27-25) in extra points on a serve from Atkinson and a kill from Taylor.

ABU led 5-2 in the third set. Trevecca pulled ahead 6-5, but again ABU pulled ahead and led until TNU turned a 13-11 deficit into a 17-13 lead with a 6-2 run. From there the Trojans continued to add to the lead for a 25-18 win.

As a team the Purple and White hit for .252 with 44 kills and only 14 errors in 119 attacks.

Clare Taylor led Trevecca with 12 kills and a .212 attack percentage and added 13 digs for a double-double. Katelyn Atkinson had a .233 attack percentage with 11 kills and added 12 digs for the double-double. Atkinson had four assists and three block assists. Alex Reuter had a .500 attack percentage with eight kills. Janessa Hodge (FR/Nashville, MI) had six blocks (two solo/four assists).

Ashleigh Lozier (SO/Murfreesboro, TN) had seven digs and three service aces. Loren Bennett (SR/Ooltewah, TN) added 35 assists and equaled Taylor with a team-high 13 digs.

Trevecca is 10-5 in three-set matches with five consecutive three-set wins to end the regular season. They started the season with two three-set wins. Trevecca's three-set losses were all out of conference.ÂÂ

Trevecca is 3-1 in five-set matches. Their first win was in the very first conference match, a 3-2 win at Ursuline College. Trevecca had a five-set win over King University in the middle of their extended road trip. The five-set loss was the first home match after that road trip to Cedarville. Which was also the last time the Trojans lost a set prior to the third set versus KWC Thursday.ÂÂ
