Box Score HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team (1-3) lost 66-61 against Shorter University (3-0) in a game played at the University of Alabama Huntsville's Kelly Court at Spragins Hall.

Trevecca faces the host Chargers of UAH at 3 PM on Saturday. The teams will play again in Nashville at the Trojan Fieldhouse on Nov. 30th at 7 PM. Since the move to NCAA Division II play the Trojans are 2-4 versus the Chargers. Trevecca leads the all-time series 7-6. The last meeting between the two schools came on Dec. 1 of 2014 and the Trojans picked up a 77-64 win over the then 25th ranked Chargers at the Trojan Fieldhouse.

Since 2005 the Trojans are 3-2 versus Shorter, but have dropped the last two.

Trevecca led early and then tied the game at 18-18 with 10:07 remaining in the first half. Shorter scored the next seven points in the game for a 25-18 lead. With 6:21 left the Shorter lead was three (29-26). Shorter used a 14-6 run to take a 11-point (43-32) lead. Their halftime edge was 10 at 43-33.

The Hawk lead was 10 (43-37) with 18:12 left in the game. Trevecca methodically cut into the Shorter advantage until they trailed by just one point (62-61) with 2:24 remaining. Neither team scored again until there were three seconds remaining. Shorter went to the line twice and hit all four shots in the final three seconds for a five-point victory.

Byron Sanford (SR/Louisville, KY) led Trevecca with 26 points and 12 rebounds. He added two steals after going 9-22 from the field. Matt Gamberoni (SR/Mulhouse, France) also had a double-double with 16 points and a game-high 18 rebounds. Gamberoni added four assists and hit 8-16 from the field. Jacob Williams (SO/Lebanon, TN) added nine rebounds and six assists.

The Trojans shot 33% (24-72) from the field, 24.5% (5-21) from three-point range, and 67% (6-9) from the foul line. The Trojans outrebounded Shorter 56-38. Shorter was on the right side of the turnover category with only 11 to Trevecca's 17.

Trevecca outscored the Hawks 36-24 in the paint, but SU had a 25-10 advantage in scoring off turnovers.ÂÂ
