The win is even more significant because it moves the Trojans into a #2 seed in next week's Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships.ÂÂ

The result means that TNU ends the season with the third best record in the G-MAC and will hold one of two #2 seeds in the G-MAC championships next week. It also means that TNU and KWC will meet in the quarterfinals on Thursday.ÂÂ

Trevecca and Kentucky Wesleyan will face off in the G-MAC quarterfinals (Match Two) Thursday at 6:30 PM (CT) at the Mason Arena in Mason, Ohio. Match One pits #3 Ursuline College (8-23, 3-7 G-MAC) versus #2 Davis & Elkins College (14-15, 6-4 G-MAC) at 4 PM.ÂÂ

The 6-team tournament is a single elimination format. The winner receives the conferences automatic bid to the NCAA Regional. It is the first time the G-MAC winner qualifies automatically for regional play.ÂÂ

The TNU/KWC winner plays #1 Seed Alderson Broaddus University (14-17, 8-2 G-MAC) in one semifinal on Friday at a yet to be determined time. The Ursuline/D&E winner plays #1 seed Cedarville University (18-14, 9-1 G-MAC) in the other semifinal on Friday.ÂÂ

The semifinal winners play for the championship on Saturday at Noon.

Trevecca opened the first set with a 8-4 run, but trailed 14-13 about midway through the set. Trevecca rolled back to take the set 25-22.

Trevecca took charge in the second set with a 11-7 start and walked from there to a 25-13 victory. The tone for the third and final set was established early with a 9-2 Trojan start. Later the Trojans were up 19-9 and finished off the Panthers 25-14.

The seven conference wins are the most for the Trojans in the G-MAC era. The 2011-12 team had nine wins in the last year of the TranSouth era.ÂÂ

The 17 overall wins is the most for a Trojan team since the 2012-13 team picked up 23 wins. The team will end the year with a winning record.ÂÂ

Atkinson added 13 kills and a .393 attack percentage and seven digs.
Loren Bennett handed out 27 assists and had four kills, with a .571 attack percentage and five digs.
Ashleigh Lozier had 11 digs and three service aces.
