Trevecca started with a 8-2 run to start the match, but Southwest Baptist forced their way back into the match tying it up at 12. After that, the match wouldn't be separated by more than four points until the Bearcats went on 15-5 run to end the second set to go up two sets.

"We played pretty well the first three sets," said head coach, Jayme Crowley after, "the difference was just little tiny things but that's the difference between a gold medal and a silver."

The third set proved to be more effective for the Trojan's as they went on a 15-5 run of their own to force a fourth set. Atkinson had six of her 15 kills in the third set while Bennett set eight assists.

The scoring went back and forth until the Bearcats rattled off for six of the next eight points. The Trojan's drew within two after a kill from Atkinson to take the match to 9-11. But that was as close as Trevecca would get for the remainder of the match falling in the final set 17-25.

Crowley was optimistic following the match, but pointed out that there is room for improvement.

"We've got potential but we've got some things to work on," said Crowley, "the main thing is we have to be more aware of situations."

This match was the second match of the day and of the season for the Trojan's, splitting on the day.

"I'm overall pleased with today's performance," said Crowley.
