In the fifth, the Trojans added another pair of runs on an RBI double by Ansley Brantley, that hit the very top of the fence, bounced straight up a few feet and stayed in the park robbing her of a home run. Stephens drove in Brantley with an RBI-Single to give Trevecca a 4-0 lead.
In the sixth, Trevecca added a run when Richardson reached on a four-pitch lead-off walk, advanced to second on an error and then scored when Heather Shuler singled.
Trevecca erased any doubt of the outcome with a three-run top of the seventh. Kemp led off with a single. Stephens doubled next, moving Kemp to third. Paige Cassady singled to right-center, riving in Stephens and Kemp. After a Megan Chesney double, Shuler reached on an error to drive in Cassady.
In the circle, Haley Fagan (16-6), who allowed just four hits total, allowed just one hit through the first four innings, which came to the lead-off hitter Kelsey Miller. Fagan allowed a hit in the fifth and two in the sixth. Fagan delivered six strikeouts and gave up two walks on the way to the win and the Conference Championship.
Lindsey Stephens went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI. Ansley Brantley was 2-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored, and a RBI.
For coach Tyree, this is his fourth conference tournament championship over his six-year career at Trevecca. This is Trevecca's seventh softball conference tournament championship since the 2005-2006 season.
