Box Score VIENNA, W.Va. - The Trevecca Nazarene University softball team (33-10) defeated Ursuline College (10-24) 5-0 in the first round of the 2014 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships. The Trojans advance to the winners bracket and will play later today (weather permitting) against the winner of the fifth seeded Davis & Elkins College (17-28) and fourth seeded Alderson Broaddus University (21-25).

Trevecca broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the third inning with a pair of runs. Trevecca completed the games scoring with a three-run fourth inning and shutout the Arrows to advance. The Arrows aided the Trojans efforts with four errors and had four hits. Trevecca had eight hits and one error.

Lindsey Stephens (JR/Somerset, Ky.) was a bright spot for TNU in the circle and at the plate. Stephens picked up the win as the starting pitcher improved to 7-2 on the season. Stephens also produced at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI. Stephens pitching line reveals just three hits allowed and no walks while she struck out four. She faced just 18 batters over her five innings of work. Kelsey Kemp (JR/Lawrenceburg, Tenn.) pitched the final two innings - allowing a hit and two walks while striking out one. ÂÂ

In the Trevecca third, Ansley Brantley (SO/Kite, Ga.) reached on an error, advancing to second on the error, with one away in the inning. Kemp sacrificed to advance Brantley to third. Stephens followed with a single that scored Brantley. Mackenzie Leding (JR/Springfield, Tenn.) and Alex Richardson (FR/Ten Mile, Tenn.) delivered back-to-back singles that scored Stephens and put the Trojans up 2-0.

With two away in the TNU fourth, Jordan Griner (SO/Mulberry, Tenn.) drew a walk. Brantley reached on a dropped fly and Trevecca had runners at second and third with two away. Kemp followed with a single and moved to second on an error. Brantley and Griner both scored for a 4-0 Trojan lead. Stephens picked up her second RBI with a single that scored Kemp and produced the 5-0 final score.

Mackenzie Leding (2-3) and Alex Richardson 2-3) both had two-hit games. Richardson had an RBI. Kemp was 1-for-3 at the plate with a run scored and two RBI. Brantley didn't have a hit, after reaching two on error, but scored twice. Griner, who reached on a walk, scored the other Trojan run.
