Box Score

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Trevecca Nazarene (11-2) baseball team won its 10th consecutive game Wednesday afternoon as they knocked off Carson-Newman (11-9) 3-1 at Jackson Field in a non-conference game.

The Trojans got on the board first in the bottom of the third as Tyler Tichenor singled through the right side scoring Patrick Reed.

C-N tied the game at 1 in the fourth as on an RBI single from Joe Tipton. The Eagles had bases loaded in the next at-bat but TNU pitcher Ryan Shultz induced a groundout to end the inning.

In the bottom half of the fourth, Clayton Nichols singled to center field plating Ryan Arington who had doubled in the previous at-bat.

Trevecca would not relinquish that lead.

Luke Fennell rounded out TNU's scoring efforts with an RBI single up the middle in the fifth giving the final margin.

Trailing 3-1 to begin the ninth, Carson-Newman started the inning with back-to-back singles from Tipton and Evan Kirkpatrick.

But Trevecca reliever John Bolton would induce a double play in the next at-bat and closed the game striking out an Eagles batter. It was his second save of the season.

Reed had two hits on bunts to lead the Trojans. Seven total players tallied hits for Trevecca.

Austin Sisk (1-0) picked up his first win of the save tossing 1.2 innigs and allowing two hits.

Trevecca returns to action March 7 at 4 p.m. as it hosts Rockhurst University (0-1).
