Box Score 2 NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team (18-7, 2-2 G-MAC) lost a Great Midwest Athletic Conference doubleheader to Kentucky Wesleyan College (10-7, 2-2 G-MAC) Saturday afternoon at Jackson Field. The Panthers won game one 12-2 and rallied to win the second, 7-4.

Game One
Trevecca's normally high powered offense was held to just four hits and two runs. The visiting Panthers, who Trevecca swept in a double header on Friday, scored three in the first and after giving up a Trevecca run in the second, scored four more in the top of the fourth for a 7-1 advantage. Trevecca plated a run in the fifth, but allowed two KWC runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh.

KWC scored its 12 runs on 13 hits. Neither team committed an error. Trevecca had just eight base runners in the game.

Alex Shoulders (3-2) took the loss going four innings and allowing nine hits, seven runs, two walks while striking out four. Lucas Ray (2-0) got the win with a complete game. He allowed four hits, two runs, and two walks while striking out three in the seven innings of work.

No Trojan had more than a hit and only Bryson Shelton reached base twice. Shelton was 1-for-2 with a walk. Nick Howell, who was 1-for-4 with a runs scored, had Trevecca's only extra base hit, a double.

Game Two
The Panthers rallied from a 4-0 deficit to win game two by a 7-4 count.

Trevecca got things going in the bottom of the first scoring a pair of runs. Jeffrey Scarritt connected with a two-out single up the middle plating Hunter Newman and Tyler Tichenor.

TNU added two more runs in the second.  Howell had a sacrifice fly to center field plating Cameron Boyett and in the next at-bat Tichenor singled up the middle scoring Clayton Nichols.

Over the next six innings, Panthers pitcher Andrew Morales would allow just six total hits.

KWC began its comeback with a pair of runs in the fifth inning. Dennon Koziol hit a one-out single to left center plating Connor Petschke and Reid Walker. That cut the Panther deficit to 4-2.

In the next frame, Kentucky Wesleyan exploded for five runs. After back-to-back hits from Josh Vance and Jordan Harbison, Walker singled up the middle scoring both base runners tying the game at 4. Three batters later, Koziol hit a two-out single to center field plating another run. A fielding error at shortstop added another run for KWC and Mark Hagedorn capped off the scoring with an RBI double down the left field line.

Trevecca would not be able to recover in the final three innings. The Trojans got just one runner in scoring position the rest of the way.

John Bolton took the loss, his first of the season, tossing 5.2 innings and allowed five earned runs. He also fanned a pair of batters.

Scarritt and Tichenor each recorded three hits while Howell added  two hits.

Trevecca returns to action March 26 at the University of North Alabama (15-15) for a 6 p.m. start. The Trojans knocked off the Lions 5-2 earlier this season.
