Box Score HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – No. 12 (Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Top 30) University of Alabama in Huntsville (19-7) powered by Trevecca Nazarene University (16-4) 16-9 Wednesday night in a non-conference baseball game at Charger Park.

The Chargers tallied 21 hits in the game including three home runs.

Trevecca jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first as Hunter Newman hit a sacrifice fly to left field scoring Nick Howell who led off the game with a double.

UAH responded with three runs in the second as Chase Handley connected on a two-run double and Chandler Brock had an infield RBI single.
ÂÂ
In the third, the Chargers poured on five more runs highlighted by solo home runs from Handley and Blake Massey, and a two-run homer from Colton Simbeck. The scoring frenzy chased Trojans pitcher Rob Rowland off the mound.

Alabama-Huntsville tallied two more runs in the fourth to push its lead to 10-1.

The Trojans then rallied in the sixth inning plating six runs. Clayton Nichols and Ryan Arington each drew bases-loaded walks. Later, Nichols and Bryson Shelton scored on a fielding error from shortstop. TNU tallied its final two runs scoring on a passed ball and a RBI single from Newman.

Trevecca plated a single run in the seventh and eighth innings to bring the score to 10-9, UAH.

Arington had an RBI single in the seventh while Shelton grounded into a double play scoring another in the eighth. ÂÂ

The 12th-ranked Chargers would break though and exploded for six more runs in the bottom of the eighth. Cody Burton singled on a bunt plating a run and in the next at-bat Handley singled to right field scoring another. Ben Hall added a two-run single two batters later.

Newman went 3-for-4 for TNU scoring two runs and driving in a pair. Howell was 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored while Luke Fennell went 3-for-5 with a run scored. Shelton collected a pair of hits for the Trojans.

Rob Rowland (2-1) took the loss tossing 2.2 innings, allowing 10 hits and eight earned runs.

Trevecca returns to action March 21 at 4 p.m. when they host Kentucky Wesleyan College (8-5) in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference doubleheader. It is the G-MAC opener for both teams.
