Men's Basketball | Trevecca Wins Third in a Row, 75-69 @ Ohio Valley

VIENNA, W.Va. - Trevecca (4-5, 2-0 G-MAC) defeated Ohio Valley University (0-5, 0-2 G-MAC) 75-69 at the Snyder Activities Center on Saturday.

Trevecca will visit Missouri S & T on Friday in Rolla, Mo. at 7 p.m. The Miners defeated Trevecca 88-78 on November 25 in the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

The Trojans play McKendree University next Saturday at 3 p.m. Before visiting Saint Joseph's College on Monday, December 15 at 7:30 p.m. The next home game, and final game before the Christmas break, is on December 19 at 7 p.m. when Kentucky State University visits the Trojan Fieldhouse.

The teams will meet again on February 26, 2015 in Nashville at the Trojan Fieldhouse.

Trevecca jumped out to an early lead, but the Scots closed the gap to just one (32-31) late in the first half. Trevecca closed the half on a 5-0 run for a 36-31 lead at the break.

The second half was tight and OVU eventually cut the Trojan lead to one (42-41) at the media timeout and then evened the game at 54-54. Trevecca pulled away again and led 68-61. Trevecca outscored Ohio Valley 39-38 in the second half for a 75-69 victory.

Byron Sanford (JR/Louisville, KY) flirted with a triple-double again with 17 points, seven rebounds, and six assists while adding two steals. Matt Gamberoni (JR/Mulhouse, France) scored 10 points while Jalen Palm (JR/Louisville, KY) scored 15 point and Tyrell Corlew (JR/Louisville, KY) connected for 11. Jacob Williams (FR/Lebanon, TN) hit 2-4 from three-point range.

OVU had a 45-39 edge in rebounding and the Trojans forced 21 turnovers with eight steals.

Trevecca shot 45% (31-69) from the field, 21% (3-14) from three-point range, and 71% (10-14) from the foul line.

Robert Smelser led the Scots with 21 points and seven rebounds while Darryl Walker added a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
