Men's Basketball | Trevecca Knocks Off McKendree

LEBANON, Ill. - The Trevecca men's basketball team (5-6, 2-0 G-MAC) won for the fourth time in five games Saturday afternoon, knocking off McKendree University (5-1) 71-62 at the Harry M. Statham Sports Center. The win gives the Trojans a season split with the Bearcats, who won 90-81 in Nashville on November 29th.
 
The Trojans will play the last of five straight games away from home Monday night at St. Joseph's College (2-6) in Rensselaer, Ind. Game time at the Richard F. Scharf Alumni Fieldhouse is 7:30 p.m.
 
Trevecca never trailed Saturday, scoring the game's first five points and leading by as many as nine in the first half before settling for a 39-32 lead at the break. The lead grew to as many as 15 in the second half as the Trojans pulled within a win of .500 on the season.
 
Tyrell Corlew (JR/Louisville, KY) and Jacob Williams (FR/Lebanon, TN) paced four Trojans in double figures with 14 points apiece. Matt Pond (SO/Franklin, TN) added 11 points and Matt Gamberoni (JR/Mulhouse, France) chipped in 10 points and six rebounds. Byron Sanford (JR/Louisville, KY) flirted with a triple-double, posting nine points, nine rebounds, and nine assists.
 
Michael Jackson led the Bearcats with a game-high 15 points off the bench, while Arthur Williams added 13 points and 13 rebounds. 
 
Trevecca shot 44.3% (27-of-61) from the field, 46.4% (13-of-28) from beyond the arc, and 66.7% (4-of-6) from the free throw line. McKendree shot 41.1% (23-of-56) from the floor, 25.9% (7-of-27) from 3-point territory, and 64.3% (9-of-14) form the charity stripe.
