CEDARVILLE, Ohio - The Trevecca Trojan volleyball team (13-11, 4-2 G-MAC) dropped a three-set match at Cedarville University (15-12, 7-1 G-MAC) to fall out of a first place tie. The Yellow Jackets took the match 22-25, 33-35, 14-25.

Trevecca will visit Central State University (0-12, 0-8 G-MAC) for a match on Saturday morning at 10 a.m.

After the Yellow Jackets started with a 6-3 run in set one, Trevecca rallied to take a 11-9 advantage with a 8-3 run of their own. Loren Bennett (JR/Ooltewah, Tenn.) and Kayleigh Jarrett (SO/Tehachapi, Calif.) each had three serve opportunities to power the run. Trevecca led 12-11 moments later, but Cedarville rolled off a 6-0 run and held off a late Trojan rally.

Set two was a classic going 10 extra points before CU took the win. Cedarville scored the first three, but Trevecca used a 11-3 run to lead 11-6. CU cut the TNU lead to one at 11-10 and neither team would lead by more than two the rest of the way.

Cedarville had set-point at 24-23 after a service ace from Kristin Cardwell. TNU called a timeout and then a sideout on a kill by Katelyn Atkinson (SO/Hermitage, Tenn.) to extend the set. Trevecca had a set-point at 25-24, but Amanda Bell produced a kill to erase the advantage. In all the two teams combined for 11 set points before the Yellow Jackets won the set on a kill from Tori Thompson.

The long and emotionally draining set took the steam out of the Trojans who lost set three 25-14 after trailing just 6-5 early.

Katelyn Atkinson had 19 kills to lead three Trojans with double-figure kills. Zakia Jackson (JR/Hermitage, Tenn.) (11) and Delaney Hearne (JR/San Marcos, Tex.) (10) also racked up double figure kills.  Atkinson had a .286 attack percentage and added nine digs and two service aces. Loren Bennett had 38 assists and nine digs. Kayleigh Jarrett had 15 digs and a service ace.

As a team Trevecca had a .250 attack percentage with 46 kills with just 13 errors over 132 tries. Their best attack percentage came in the first set when they had 15 kills and two errors over 46 tries to produce a .283 percentage.
