Trevecca Gets 2-0 Shutout @ Asbury

Box Score

WILMORE, Ky. - The Trevecca Trojans men's soccer team (1-1-1) picked up their first win of the season in a 2-0 shutout of the Asbury University Eagles (1-2-0) on Tuesday.

Trevecca's Bruno De Moraes scored the first goal just minutes into the match when Jeremiah Wright set him up for the score in the 5th minute. Wright fed De Moraes who picked up the ball about 25 yard out left of center where he sent a shot to the opposite side where the ball got past the keeper in the top corner.

Matt Raines scored the only other goal in the 58th minute. Tucker Archie found Raines on a breakaway which put Raines in a one-on-one with the Eagle goalie. Raines bent a shot around the keeper with the outside of his foot.

Coach Leavy said his team did a good job of controlling the tempo, "the guys really attacked on the offensive end an defensively really limited their opportunities all night long."

Braydon Brown produced the shutout in goal for the Trojans. Brown had three saves. Trevecca had 16 shots with five of them on goal. Asbury had a total of eight shots.

Trevecca is set to host the Trevecca Invitational this weekend. On Friday, September 13 Trevecca will play Trinity International (0-2-1), the alma mater of Trevecca coach Danny Leavy, at 7 PM. On Saturday, September 14 Trevecca will face Indiana Wesleyan (3-2) at 5 PM.

Leavy is looking forward to this weekend's Trevecca Invitational, "This was great prep for this weekend, Trinity is a well-organized team, On Saturday we face a talented Indiana Wesleyan team. We'll need to play well in both matches to have a chance."
