Box Score 2 OWENSBORO, Ky. – Kentucky Wesleyan (14-20) swept a non-conference softball doubleheader over Trevecca Nazarene (12-9) Tuesday afternoon winning game one 6-5 in 11 innings and 8-4 in game two.

It's the second time this season KWC swept TNU with the last occasion taking place April 3 at the TNU Softball complex.

In the opener, Trevecca jumped out to a 3-0 advantage in the top of third. Breanna Zeis hit a sacrifice fly to right field and two batters later Mackenzie Leding connected with a two-run single.

Kentucky Wesleyan would tie the game in the bottom of the sixth as a Kelsey Miller grounder to the Trojans shortstop was mishandled and allowed Alex Baumgrat to cross home plate.

Trevecca would take the lead again in the top of the seventh. After a Kelsey Kemp single, Zeis doubled to push Kemp across home plate bringing the score to 4-3. The Trojans would add their fifth run as Heather Shuler grounded to the Panthers pitcher who made an error scoring Zeis.

For the third straight time against Kentucky Wesleyan, Trevecca had a lead heading into the bottom of the seventh. The Panthers would rally again courtesy of Kaci Ovelgoenner's two-run single.

Heading into extra inning tied at 5, the Panthers had a chance to close the game in the eighth. With the bases loaded and just one out, the Trevecca defense would tighten getting a force out at home plate and inducing a fly ball into center field.

TNU was able to get a runner in scoring position in the top of the 11th on a Kemp double, but Ashlee Winstead induced to fly-outs to end the threat.

In the home half of the inning, Ovelgoenner would be the only at-bat coming up with the winning run. She tripled to right field and then crossed home plate after an error by TNU's right fielder.

Shelby Andrews took the loss for Trevecca tossing six innings, scattering five hits, allowing two earned runs and striking out three.

Kemp, Zeis and Leding each recorded multiple hits to lead Trevecca's offense.

GAME TWO
Â
Kentucky Wesleyan plated a run in the first, second and two more in the third before erupting for three runs in the fourth to take a 7-0 lead.

After Miller crossed home plate on a wild pitch, Ashley Crooke came up two batters later and drove in two with a sacrifice fly to center field.

The Trojans would finally get on the board in the fifth as Haylee Rogers scored on a throwing error by the Panthers pitcher.
Â
TNU would add three more runs in the top of the seventh highlighted by Lindsey Stephens' two-run single. That would be the last of the Trojans' scoring efforts in the game.

Stephens took the loss in the circle for Trevecca tossing six innings, allowing nine hits, seven earned runs and fanning four.
Â
No Trevecca players recorded multiple hits.
Â
Josalyn Ress (6-8) picked up the win for KWC tossing a complete game, scattering eight hits, allowing three earned runs and striking out four.

Ovelgoenner was 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs driven in while Kyli Smithson collected a pair of hits.

Trevecca returns to action April 10 at Covenant College (4-22) for a non-conference doubleheader at 4 p.m.
