NASHVILLE - Trevecca (2-2) defeated Mid-Continent (0-4) 5-1 and 11-1 on Monday at the Trojan softball complex. Lindsey Stephens picked up a win in the circle and tore it up at the plate going a combined 3-for-6. The sophomore added two runs, five RBI, a double, and a triple, In picking up the win in game two she allowed just one run while striking out two.  

Game One
In the first game Trevecca supported starting pitcher Natalie Papini (1-1) with five runs as she earned her first win of the year. Papini, who was relieved by Kelsey Kemp for the final inning of work, pitched six strong innings, giving up just four hits, three walks, and one run while striking out four. Kemp pitched a perfect seventh with two K's.

Trevecca secured the win with two in the fourth and three in the fifth. In the fourth Lindsey Stephens singled before Shelby Andrews reached on an error. Breanna Zeis followed with a two-RBI double, scoring Stephens and Andrews.  

In the fifth TNU's Jordan Griner and Aubrey Jordan delivered back-to-back singles. Kelsey Kemp followed with a SAC bunt before Stephens tripled scoring both runners. Lacy Grimes scored Stephens when she hit into a ground-out to short.

In the Cougar sixth Bry Navarro reached on a fielder's choice and later scored on a throwing error.

Stephens (2-3) and Breanna Zeis (2-2) each had two-hit games. Stephens added two runs, two RBI, and a triple. Zeis drove in two runs, had a double, and drew a walk.

Trevecca scored five runs on eight hits with one error. Mid-Continent scored their run on four hits and had two errors. Lindsey Rucker (0-2) took the loss for MCU after allowing eight hits, one walk, and five runs - three earned. Rucker sat down six Trojans with strikeouts.

Game Two
The Cougars scored in the top of the first when Courtney Woods opened the game with a single. Woods advanced to second on a SAC bunt and to third on a single, then scoring on a Colby Smith single.  

Trevecca turned the game in their favor with a four-run second inning. Lacy Grimes reached on a error and advanced to second MacKenzie Leding's single. Grimes scored and Leding advanced to third on a throwing error. Shelby Andrews reached on an RBI bunt that scored Leding. Breanna Zeis walked and then combined with Andrews on a double-steal. Megan Chesney singled scoring Andrews and Zeis

Trevecca put Mid-Continent in danger of the run-rule with a six-run third. Grimes started it off again reaching on a walk, but was forced out when Leding reached on a fielder's choice. Andrews singled up the middle and an out later Shuler singled driving in Leding. Chesney singled scoring Andrews. Aubrey Jordan kept the train rolling with a single that scored Shuler. Kelsey Kemp reached on a single to load the bases and setting the table for Stephens. Stephens stepped up and doubled to left center, clearing the bases and grabbing three RBI.  

Trevecca added an Andrews run in the fourth after she reached on a walk and scored on a RBI-double off the bat of Zeis.

Kemp (2-3), Andrews (2-2), and Chesney (2-2) all had multiple hit games for Trevecca. Andrews also reached on a walk and had a stolen base while scoring three runs. Stephens and Zeis doubled with Stephens collected three RBI and a stolen base.  

Stephens (1-0) also starred in the circle, starting and pitching four innings. The sophomore allowed six hits and one run - earned. She struck out two. Rachel Brueggeman (0-1) took the loss for the Cougars. She lasted an inning, giving up two hits, three runs - two earned.

As a team Trevecca collected 11 hits and played clean defense in producing their 11 runs. Mid-Continent scattered eight hits with two defensive miscues in scoring their run.

On Wednesday the Trojans will visit Georgetown College (6-2), a school projected to joining the G-MAC in two years, at 1 p.m. in Georgetown, Ky.
