Box Score

PULASKI, Tenn. - The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team (9-15, 2-3 G-MAC) lost on the road at Martin Methodist (18-9) 72-63. TNU will host Urbana on Saturday at 4 p.m. for Senior Day at the Trojan Fieldhouse when Urbana University visits.

The RedHawks are receiving votes for the NAIA Top 25 and are leading the TranSouth conference race. Trevecca defeated MMC 65-56 January 15 at the Trojan Fieldhouse, but the RedHawks have now won 10 in a row since the loss to the Trojans.

The game was very tight early with MMC holding a slight edge most of the way until the Trojans broke a 15-15 tie to claim a 20-17 lead when Maliek Daniels buried a shot with 11:05 to go in the first half. The shot triggered a timeout. The game was tied again at 24 all with 5:15 remaining in the half. The RedHawks rolled off a 7-0 run for a 31-24 lead with 1:33 to go. Trevecca closed the half strong to limit the damage, closing the gap to just 32-28 at the break.

Trevecca continued their surge early in the second half, claiming a 37-36 lead on a JP Nyadaro basket in the paint with 15:34 remaining. Marquise Rudolph hit a three-pointer to tie the game at 45-45 with 10:37 to go, but the RedHawks eased ahead again on a 6-0 run and led 51-45 with 8:14 to go. The Trojans cut the RedHawk lead to three a couple of more times, but couldn't close the gap any further. MMC held on for the 72-63 victory. MMC outscored TNU 40-35 in the second half.

Nick Drake led the Trojans in scoring with a career-high 22 points. Drake was 6-of-11 from three-point range and 8-of-14 overall. Joining Drake in double figures scoring was Maliek Daniels with 17. Daniels led the team in rebounding with eight. JP Nyadaro added nine points and five rebounds. Antonio Coleman scored a game-high 24 points for the RedHawks.

The RedHawks dominated the enhanced scoring: points in the paint (42-19), points off turnover (19-9), and bench scoring (25-0), and second chance points (12-4). The rebounding edge also went the way of MMC, 35-21. Both teams had 15 turnovers.

Trevecca shot 43% (23-53) from the field, 41% (12-29) from three-point range, and 71% (5-7) from the foul line.

Trevecca will celebrate senior day on Saturday (4 pm) when they host Urbana University (10-16, 0-4 G-MAC) for what will be the final home game for Trevecca four seniors: Marquise Rudolph, JP Nyadaro, Maliek Daniels, and Peyton Henry.

Trevecca will be the No. 3 seed in the first-ever G-MAC postseason tournament. The tournament will be held March 8-9 at Cedarville University.
