Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Trevecca Nazarene men's basketball team (2-6) lost 84-80 to visiting McKendree University (4-1) on Saturday at the Trojan Fieldhouse.

Trevecca opened the game with a 6-2 run and led for most of the first half. With 9:23 remaining in the half Byron Sanford sank a free throw to put the Trojans up 19-17. That lead held until the 8:20 mark when Bearcat Jeremy Price hit a free throw to put McKendree up 20-19. MU held the lead until Trevecca's Aaron Turner tied the game at 33 all with a layup with :52 remaining. A Price layup with :49 seconds left provided the first half final, a 35-33 MU lead.

McKendree pushed their lead to 12 points with a 10-0 run to start the second half. With 12:54 to go the Bearcat lead had grown to 15 points (55-40). With 4:01 left in the game Sanford cut the McKendree lead to just three (72-69) on a layup. The Bearcats rebuilt a five-point lead, but David Woodard who connected on 11-of-15 from the foul line, hit a pair of free throws with 2:25 to go cutting the lead to just one at 74-73. The Bearcats would not let the Trojan run go any further and held on for an 84-80 victory.

Woodard led Trevecca with 23 points and added six rebounds while hitting 6-of-10 from the field. Sanford (13), Jordan Miles (12), and Jordan Bedwell (10) all hit double figures in scoring too. Matt Pond had a team-high eight rebounds.

Trevecca shot 49% (28-57) from the field, 23% (3-13) from three-point range, and 70% (21-3) from the foul line. TNU had the edge in rebounding 32-29.
