NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Trevecca volleyball team (13-9, 4-4 G-MAC) defeated Alderson Broaddus University (13-11, 6-2 G-MAC) in straight sets 25-19, 26-24, 25-18 and avenged a 3-1 loss earlier this season at the G-MAC Crossover. The all-time series is now tied 1-1.

Trevecca opened the first set with a 9-1 run and led 19-13 with the visiting Battlers made a run and closed the gap to just three points at 21-18. Trevecca finished the set off with a 4-1 run. Trevecca had a .296 (12-4-27) attack percentage in the first set.

Neither team took control of the second set as it remained close throughout. ABU led 17-14 when TNU made a key run. The Trojans used a 8-1 run to take a 22-18 lead. They would never give up the lead despite the Battlers tying the match at 23-23 and 24-24. In that 8-1 run Shelby Sorce had a run of six straight points on serve.

The third set was tight nearly to the midway point. The teams were tied 11-11 when Kristen Johnson served Trevecca to four straight points on serve to put the Trojans up 15-11. Trevecca led 16-14 and got a side out on a Kirsten Taylor kill and Caroline Gay served Trevecca to three straight points to put the Trojans up 20-14. Trevecca closed the set with a 5-3 advantage for the set and match win.

Trevecca produced a .260 attack percentage (37-11-100) for the match. Kristen Johnson had 11 kills and a .320 attack percentage while adding in 10 digs. Delaney Hearn was strong at the net as well with nine kills and a .350 attack percentage. Taylor had six kills while Shelby Sorce had 19 digs and two service aces. Caroline Gay added 22 assists and Loren Bennett had five kills, 12 assists, and eight digs.

Trevecca, in their final home G-MAC contest of the year, will take on Davis & Elkins College (7-17, 2-6 G-MAC) at 1 p.m. on Saturday. TNU defeated D&E 3-1 at the G-MAC Crossover.
