Box Score 2 NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Trevecca softball team (30-14-1, 19-7-1 TranSouth) swept a pair of games from Mid-Continent University (17-25, 10-22 TranSouth) Wednesday afternoon at the Trojan Softball Complex. The Trojans got a six-inning combined no-hitter in a 10-0 win in game one, and completed the sweep with an 11-3, five-inning victory in game two.
Game OneLauren Baker and
Natalie Papini combined to hold the Cougars hitless and the Trojan offense pounded four home runs en route to the easy victory.
Baker (11-5) pitched the first five innings in dominant fashion, striking out seven batters while walking just one. Papini finished up, striking out two in a scoreless sixth inning. Molly Hargrove (8-9) took the loss for Mid-Continent.
Breanna Zeis led the way offensively, going 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, four RBI, and two runs.
Ansley Brantley,
Lacey Grimes, and
Heather Shuler each added solo homers for Trevecca, which scored three runs in the first inning, added a run in the third, and put the game away with six runs in the sixth.
Game TwoIn the nightcap,
Lacey Grimes drove in five runs and
Riley Mashburn picked up the win in the circle.
Grimes went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and five RBI,
Lindsey Stephens went 3-for-3 with a double, two RBI, and three runs, and
Heather Shuler went 2-for-2 with a double, two RBI, and two runs. Shuler finished the doubleheader with four hits, four runs scored, and three RBI.
Mashburn (9-7) allowed three runs on five hits in five innings, with three strikeouts and five walks. Lindsey Rucker (7-10) suffered the loss for the Cougars.
The Trojans will host NAIA #RV Martin Methodist (36-16, 20-8 TranSouth) Friday at 3 p.m.
