Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Trojan softball team (25-13-1, 14-6-1 TranSouth) split a pair of games with Bethel University (13-19, 8-16 TranSouth) Saturday afternoon at the Trojan Softball Complex. Trevecca took the opener 4-3 and Bethel won the nightcap 10-5.
 
Game One

The Trojans rode Lauren Baker's solid pitching and a four-run third inning to the win in the opener, a game Trevecca won despite six errors.

Baker (9-4) allowed three unearned runs on three hits in six innings of work, with two strikeouts and one walk. Natalie Papini pitched the seventh inning to earn her third save of the season. Ericca McCormic (4-7) took the loss for Bethel.

Bethel scored first, putting a run on the board in the third inning with help from three Trojan errors. But the Trojans answered, scoring four times in the bottom of the inning on RBI singles by Heather Shuler and Breanna Zeis, an error by the Lady Wildcats, and a groundout by Kelsey Kemp.

Bethel scored twice in the sixth to cut the deficit to 4-3, and the Lady Wildcats put two on with one out off Papini in the seventh. But Caitlyn Bailey robbed Amanda Renfroe of extra bases with a terrific catch in the right-centerfield gap and doubled Rachael Carroll off first base to end the rally and the game.

Game Two

The Trojans fell behind early in game two before rallying to tie the game in the sixth, only to see the Lady Wildcats pull away for the victory with a big seventh inning.

Bethel scored twice in the first to take the early lead, and after Lauren Baker's RBI single got the Trojans on the board in the second, the Lady Wildcats added two more runs to a take a 4-1 lead in the third. Breanna Zeis scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the inning to make it 4-2, and that's how it stood until the sixth.

Lindsey Stephens led off the bottom of the sixth inning with her second home run of the season, a blast over the centerfield fence. One out later, Lacey Grimes doubled to deep left, and Tori Hulan came in to pinch run. A wild pitch advanced Hulan to third, and a wild throw by catcher Alex Weatherly allowed her to score the tying run.

Unfortunately, the Trojans were unable to push across the go-ahead run, and the Lady Wildcats scored six runs in the top of the seventh inning to pull away for the win.

Riley Mashburn (7-7) suffered the loss for Trevecca, giving up 10 runs on 11 hits in six innings of work. Ericca McCormic (5-7) got the win for Bethel, pitching the final 1.2 innings in relief.

Stephens went 3-for-3 with a double, home run, a walk, two RBI, and two runs, and Baker went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
 
The Trojans will play a doubleheader at Blue Mountain (16-22, 10-14 TranSouth) Monday at 1 p.m.
