Box Score 2 PANAMA CITY, Fla. - The Trevecca softball team (6-10, 1-1
TranSouth) completed play at the NFCA Leadoff
Classic at Frank Brown Park with a pair of losses on Sunday. Trevecca
dropped a 4-3 decision to #RV Southern Nazarene (10-7) before losing to #RV Lee University (16-2) 11-3 in five
innings. Trevecca was playing in the Gold Bracket after going 2-1 in Pool Play.
Sunday Game One
Southern
Nazarene (10-7) scored two runs in the bottom of the first and never
relinquished the lead. Trevecca scored one in the fifth, but SNU scored their
final two runs in the bottom of the sixth for a 4-1 advantage. Trevecca started
a rally in the top of the seventh and scored two runs, but came up a run short
of tying the game. Both teams had eight hits while SNU had three errors to
TNU's one.
Lauren
Baker (1-2) started and took the loss in the circle for the Trojans. Baker
pitched all six innings giving up eight hits, four runs - three earned, and two
walks. Maci-Brooke Lambert (4-3) started and picked up the win for SNU. Lambert
pitched five and third giving up six hits, one run, and three walks while
striking out five. After Jeneva Nelson pitched an inning, Kaci Crawford (1)
earned the save by stopping the Trojans seventh inning rally. Crawford recorded
the final two Trojan outs in perfect fashion while striking out one.
Breanna
Zeis was 2-for-4 with a run scored, an RBI, and a double (2). Ansley Brantley
was 2-for-3 with a double. Lindsey Stephens was 1-for-4 with a run scored and a
stolen base.
Sunday Game Two
Trevecca,
who defeated #RV Lee (16-2) 11-3 on Friday, jumped on top 1-0 with a run in the
top of the third. Lee rallied for three runs in their half of the third and
added six more in the fourth for a commanding 9-1 lead. Trevecca tried to chip
away with a run in the fifth and sixth innings, but Lee closed the door with
two more in the sixth to force the run-rule into effect.
Breanna
Zeis was the only Trojan with more than one hit as the junior was 2-for-3 with
a triple (1) and an RBI (13). Aubrey Jordan was 1-for-4 with a triple (2) and
an RBI. Kari Mason was 1-for-4 with a stolen base.
Riley
Mashburn (1-4) started and took the loss pitching three innings and giving up
four hits, seven runs, and five walks while striking out four. Natalie Papini
pitched the final two and two-thirds of the game for Trevecca. Papini allowed
six hits and four runs - three earned and had two strikeouts. Brittany Balough
(9-0) was the winning pitcher allowing seven hits, three runs, two walks and
striking out seven in her six innings of work.
Trevecca
had seven hits and an error while Lee had 10 hits and three errors.
Trevecca will return to action on Wednesday when they host Rochester College (0-0) for a pair of games beginning at 2 p.m.
