Box Score 2 PANAMA CITY, Fla. - The Trevecca softball team (6-7, 1-1 TranSouth) is competing in the
NFCA Leadoff Classic at Frank Brown Park. In their opening game on Friday, the Trojans defeated previously unbeaten Lee University (13-1)
11-3 in six innings. Later, Trevecca shut out No. 19 Reinhardt University (7-6) 1-0.
Friday Game One
Lee scored first with a run
in the top of the second inning. Trevecca, the home team, scored three in their
half of the inning. Both teams repeated the same totals in the fourth inning
for a 6-2 Trevecca lead. Trevecca piled on with a third three-run inning in the
fifth for a 9-2 scored. Lee scored one in the sixth, but Trevecca forced the
run-rule into effect by scoring a pair of runs with two outs in the sixth.
The Trevecca bats came alive
up and down the order. There were 12 different players who had a hit, drove a
run, scored a run, or reached base with a walk. Nine different Trojans reached
base by hit or walk. Three players combined to hit four doubles, one each from
Breanna Zeis and
Allison Gaddis and two from
Ansley Brantley. Four different
Trojans produced two RBI's:
Kari Mason,
Lindsey Stephens, Brantley, and Gaddis.
The Trojans were deft on the base paths as three Trojans had a stolen base:
Mason,
Haylee Rogers, and
Tori Hulan. Stephens and Brantley each had a 2-for-4
day. Brantley had two runs scored, two RBI, and two doubles.
Lauren Baker started and
picked up the win with five innings of work. Baker had two strikeouts. Natalie
Papini pitched the six and had one strikeout. J Watts () started, pitched five
innings, and took the loss for the Flames. Watts pitched five innings and
allowed 11 runs--nine earned--on 10 hits, with four strikeouts and three walks.
Trevecca had 10 hits and one
error. Lee had six hits and three errors.
The teams are now 1-1 on the
season as Lee defeated Trevecca 8-5 last weekend at the Alabama Arctic Blast in
Decatur, Ala.
Trevecca will continue play
in the NFCA Leadoff Classic with a pair of games tonight. Trevecca faces No. 19
Reinhardt University (6-3) at 6 p.m. and #RV

Friday Game Two
Natalie Papini pitched a five-hit shutout and the Trojans defeated No. 19 Reinhardt University 1-0 in their second game of the day at the NFCA Leadoff Classic.
Trevecca scored the only run of the game in the third inning. With one out,
Kari Mason singled and advanced to second on
Kelsey Kemp's groundout to first base.
Lindsey Stephens followed with a triple to drive in Mason and give the Trojans the lead.
Papini (4-3) made the lead stand, shutting out the Eagles on five hits, while striking out seven with only one walk. Maddie Monroe (4-3) took the loss for Reinhardt, allowing one earned run on five hits, with eight strikeouts and no walks.
The Trojans' five hits were spread among five different players. In addition to Stephens' triple and Mason's single,
Lauren Baker,
Heather Shuler, and
Breanna Zeis recorded the other Trojan base hits.
