Box Score 2 MCKENZIE, Tenn. - The Trojan softball team (10-8, 3-1 TranSouth) ran its winning streak to four games with a sweep of the Bethel Lady Wildcats (6-6, 1-3) Thursday afternoon. Trevecca edged Bethel 2-1 in game one, and beat the Lady Wildcats 3-1 in game two.
GAME ONE RECAPIn the opener,
Lauren Baker pitched 6.1 shutout innings and
Lindsey Stephens had two of the Trojans four hits in the victory.
Baker (4-2), allowed just five hits and struck out five, with just two walks in a 94-pitch effort.
Riley Mashburn got the final two outs to notch her first save of the season. Sydney McMillin took the loss for Bethel, giving up two runs on three hits in five innings of work.
Stephens went 2-for-3 with a double and scored one of the Trojans' two runs.
GAME TWO RECAPNatalie Papini pitched a three-hitter,
Kari Mason had four hits, and
Lauren Baker drove in a pair of runs to help the Trojans finish off the sweep.
Papini (5-2) pitched a complete game, allowing a single run on three hits, with six strikeouts and no walks. Ericca McCormic took the loss for the Lady Wildcats.
On offense, Mason went 4-for-4 and scored twice,
Lindsey Stephens added two more hits, and Baker smacked a two-run double to lead the way.
The Trojans return home Saturday for a 2 p.m. doubleheader against Lyon College (3-16-1, 1-9 TranSouth).
