MCKENZIE, Tenn. - The Trevecca baseball team (7-8-1, 1-3-1
TranSouth) a pair of heart-breakers to Bethel Wildcats (15-8, 4-2) on Saturday afternoon, 6-5 and
3-2 in extra innings.
Game
One
Each team scored a pair of runs in the second inning.
Trevecca scored two more urns in the fourth, but Bethel plated three for a 5-4
lead. Trevecca tied the game with a run in the sixth, but BU scored the game winner
with a single run of their on in the bottom half of the sixth.
Rob Rowland (2-2) pitched the complete game for Trevecca. He
pitched six innings allowing six runs - five earned, with a walk and three
strikeouts. Jason Overton (3-1) earned the win for the Wildcats. He pitched six
innings allowing eight hits, five runs - three earned, two walks, and had two
strikeouts. Turner Bush picked of the save (1) by pitching a scoreless seventh
inning.
Luke Fennell and Trae Weiss each were 2-3 at the plate for
Trevecca. Fennell added two runs scored and a pair of doubles. Weiss had two
RBI.
Each team had nine hits and Bethel had four errors to
Trevecca's two.
Game
Two
This game went to extra innings after each team scored a
single run in the second and sixth innings. Bethel earned the series sweep with
a single run in the bottom of the eighth innings. The Wildcats had 10 hits and
an error while the Trojans had five hits and two errors.
Justin Holland was the only Trojan to have more than a
single hit. Holland had two hits. Mark Rayburn was the only Trojan to have an
extra base hit. Rayburn hit a double and added a walk and a run scored.
Josh Parker (1-2) took the loss for Trevecca. Parker pitched
a complete game going 7.2 innings. Parker allowed 10 hits, three runs, and
three walks while striking out two. Gary Ward (1-2) picked up his first win of
the year. He pitched seven innings and allowed five hits, two runs, and two
walks while striking out eight.
Trevecca
will host Bryan College (18-9) at 2 p.m. on Tuesday and #RV Campbellsville
University (16-4) on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
