Box Score MCKENZIE, Tenn. - The Trevecca baseball team (7-6-1, 1-1-1 TranSouth) dropped the opener of its three-game series at Bethel (13-8, 2-2) 6-5 in 10 innings Friday afternoon.

The Wildcats scored first, taking a 2-0 in the first inning, but the Trojans quickly answered. A two-run single by Matt Dobbins highlighted a three-run second inning, and Trevecca added single runs in the third and fourth innings to extend the lead to 5-2 heading to the fifth inning.

Trojan starter Justin Dailey was solid in his fourth start of the season, scattering 11 hits and three earned runs in seven innings of work, with three strikeouts and two walks. Trevecca still had a 5-3 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth inning, but the Wildcats scored a pair of runs on an RBI single by Ryne Bivens and an RBI double by Chase Pilkenton to tie the game and force extra innings.

In the top of the 10th, the Trojans put two runners on base with only one out, but catcher Luke Fennell bounced into a double play to end the threat. Bethel ended things in the bottom of the inning, when Brian Farrell hit a two-out home run to right field, his fourth hit of the day.

Dobbins and Justin Holland each had two hits for the Trojans, with Michael Maxwell, Mark Rayburn, and Trae Weiss picking up the other Trojan hits.

Ryne Rayburn (0-1) took the loss for Trevecca, while Joey Wilder (2-3) earned the victory for Bethel after pitching six innings of three-hit ball in relief of starter Brooks Oursler.

The teams will play a doubleheader Saturday at noon to finish up the series.
