Trevecca Routs Blue Mountain for Third Straight Win

Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Michael France scored 25 points to lead four Trojans in double figures, and Trevecca (15-8, 7-3 TranSouth) routed Blue Mountain College (7-15, 0-10) 78-51 Saturday afternoon at the Trojan Fieldhouse. The win is the third straight for Trevecca, and gives the Trojans a season sweep over the Toppers.

France was 9-of-11 from the field, including 5-of-6 from three-point range, and added three rebounds and three assists.

The Trojans were outstanding on both ends of the floor, shooting 57% from the field and knocking down seven three-pointers on the offensive end, while holding the Toppers to 35% shooting, including just 2-of-12 on three-pointers.

"Our defense just keeps getting better and better," said Trojan Head Coach Sam Harris. "We did a really good job of cutting off the floor and guarding the three-point line, which made it difficult for them all day long."

The Trojans led from start to finish, racing out to a 9-0 lead and never looking back. The Toppers would get within 10-4, but the Trojans answered with eight straight points to push the lead to 18-4, and Blue Mountain would not get within single digits again the rest of the way. The lead was 21 at the half (39-18)and grew as large as 34 points in the second half.

Marquise Rudolph added 14 points for Trevecca, Eric Orr stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and three steals, and JP Nyadaro added 12 points and six rebounds.

The Trojans shot 57% (30-53) from the floor, 35% (7-20) from three-point range, and 73% (11-15) from the free throw line. Blue Mountain shot just 35% (22-63) from the field, 17% (2-12), and 46% (5-11) from the charity stripe.

"It doesn't matter who your opponent is, if you're winning back-to-back games by nearly 30 points, that's quite an accomplishment," added Coach Harris. "We've got a tough stretch coming up with games Thursday, Saturday, and Monday, starting with Bethel Thursday. They're physical and they'll be ready for us, and we've got to make sure we win all our home games."

The Trojans will host Bethel University (14-9, 4-5 TranSouth) Thursday night at 8 p.m. Trevecca won an overtime thriller, 76-73, in the teams' earlier meeting  at Dishman Gymnasium on January 12th.
