Box Score DECATUR, Ala. - The Trevecca softball team (3-6) wrapped up a disappointing final day of play at the Alabama Arctic Blast with an 8-5 loss to #RV Lee University (11-0). The Trojans ended up losing four of five games over the weekend.
In the Trojans' final game of the day, the Flames took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first but saw Trevecca bounce right back with a run in the top of the second to tie the game 1-1 heading to the bottom of the second. But Lee blew the game open with seven runs in their half of the inning, aided by four Trojan errors, and it was 8-1 heading to the third.
Trevecca managed to chip away at the deficit, scoring once in the third and three more times in the fourth, but that was all the Trojans could manage, and the Flames remained undefeated on the season.
Heather Shuler went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI.
Lindsey Stephens went 2-for-4 with a home run, an RBI, and a run, while
Caitlyn Bailey and
Allison Gaddis drove in Trevecca's other runs.
Riley Mashburn (0-2) took the loss for Trevecca, allowing seven hits and eight runs (five earned) in 3.1 innings, with five walks.
Natalie Papini pitched the final 2.2 innings, giving up one hit with one strikeout. Brittany Balough (5-0) picked up the win for the Flames.
Trevecca returns home to open TranSouth play Tuesday afternoon with a 4 p.m. doubleheader against Freed-Hardeman (1-3) at the Trojan Softball Complex.
