Box Score 2 CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - The Trevecca softball team (2-2) dropped a pair of games at Austin Peay State University (4-4) Wednesday afternoon at Cheryl Holt Field. The Lady Govs took the opener 8-4 and the nightcap 2-1.
Freshman
Lindsey Stephens was the offensive star of game one for the Trojans, driving in all four runs. She gave Trevecca a 1-0 lead in the first inning with an RBI single, and added a three-run triple in the fifth that made it 4-1 Trojans. But Austin Peay answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning and three more in the sixth to pull away for the win.
Stephens ended up 2-for-3 with four RBI, and
Allison Gaddis had the only other hit for the Trojans.
Lauren Baker (0-1) took the loss for Trevecca, giving up eight runs (seven earned) on six hits in 5.1 innings, with three strikeouts and six walks. Lauren DeCastro (2-0) went the distance to earn the victory, allowing four unearned runs on three hits, with six strikeouts and two walks.
Game two was a pitchers' duel between the Trojans'
Natalie Papini and APSU's Morgan Brewer. Trevecca scored first, taking a 1-0 lead on an RBI single by
Breanna Zeis in the top of the third, but the Lady Govs tied the game in the bottom of the inning on an RBI double by Lauren Bradley. That's the way it stayed until the bottom of the seventh, when Kayla Davidson smacked a two-out home run to give Austin Peay the sweep.
Aubrey Jordan had two of the Trojans' four hits, with Zeis and
Kari Mason adding the other two. Papini (1-1) allowed two runs on just two hits in 6.2 innings, with six strikeouts and three walks. Brewer (2-2) pitched a complete game, allowing just one run on four hits with six strikeouts and two walks.

This weekend, the Trojans will travel to Decatur, Ala., for the Alabama Arctic Blast, hosted by Shorter University. Friday, Trevecca takes on No. 13 Auburn-Montgomery (0-2) at 2 p.m. and Tennessee Wesleyan (2-4) at 6 p.m. Saturday, the Trojans play Campbellsville (3-1) at 12 p.m., No. 14 Lindsey Wilson (3-1) at 4 p.m. and #RV Lee (4-0) at 6 p.m.
