Box Score MEMPHIS, Tenn. -Â The Trevecca men's basketball team (2-8) defeated No. 19 Christian Brothers (4-2) inside the Bucs Canale Arena Tuesday night. The visiting Trojans shot 82.6 percent (19-23) in the second half to claim a 79-75 upset.
The Trojans scored more points against CBU than any other team has this season, including the University of Memphis. In fact TNU scored 11 more on the Bucs than Harding University did in an OT win. Memphis scored just 65 against the Bucs. In fact, no team has scored more than 79 points against CBU since 2009.
Maliek Daniels hit a pair of free throws with 9:33 to go in the first half to put the Trojans up 24-23. Treveccca would lead until the Bucs grabbed the lead at the horn. The Bucs led 31-30 at the break after a Harry Green layup ended a first half that featured five ties and 11 lead changes.
The Trojans started the second half on fire hitting their first eight shots and 12 of their first 13. Trevecca led 57-46 lead with 10:23 remaining in the game. The Trojans
A 13-4 CBU run cut the TNU lead to two points (61-59) with 7:00 remaining, but Trevecca finished the half 19-of-23 from the field, including 3-of-4 from three-point range to pull off their biggest win of the season. The Bucs defeated Trevecca 69-50 Nov. 13th at the Trojan Fieldhouse.
Marquise Rudolph led the Trojans with 24 points, and J.P. Nyadaro scored 20 with a game-high nine rebounds. Nick Drake scored 14, and Maliek Daniels added 13. Nyadaro and Rudolph were both 9-of-12 from the field. Drake was 6-for-10 from the field and added a team-high six assists with just one turnover.
Trey Casey led the Bucs with 16 points and five assists while Pat Graham added 15.
Trevecca dominated fastbreak points 31-2, points in the paint 50-28, and points off turnover 22-13.
For the game, the Trojans shot 63.3 percent (31-of-49), the highest percentage allowed by the Bucs since Dec. 4, 2007. The Bucs shot 45.3 percent (29-of-64) overall and 38.9 percent (14-of-36) from three-point range. CBU out-rebounded Trevecca 30-28, including a 14-5 edge in offensive boards, but they committed 13 turnovers to the Trojans' 12.
Trevecca will host No. 4 Alabama-Huntsville (6-1) on Saturday in the Trojan Fieldhouse at 4 p.m. Trevecca made a run at upsetting the Chargers on Nov. 17 in Huntsville when the Chargers defeated TNU 66-59.
