ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Maryville College (6-1) used a 17-4 run midway through the second half to pull away from Trevecca Nazarene (1-7) Friday night in a non-conference men's basketball match. The Saints won 70-57 over the Trojans.

Trae Pemberton scored a game-high 18 points, grabbed nine rebounds and had three steals. Melvin Turner added 11 points hitting 6-of-6 from the free throw line while Armon Provo chipped in with 10 points, four rebounds and two assists.

Marquise Rudolph and Maliek Daniels each scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds for Trevecca while Eric Orr came off the bench to add 10 on 4-of-6 shooting from the field. Peyton Henry added nine points on 4-of-5 shooting.

In the first half with the score tied at 2, Provo scored on a layup to start a 14-0 run by the Saints. Pemberton and Gerald Shaw each added three-point shots during the stretch.

The Trojans crawled back into the game using a 12-2 run to close the gap to 18-14 following a three-pointer from Taylor Ward with eight minutes remaining in the half. At the break, TNU trailed 26-22.

Turner, who hit a three-pointer and added a pair of free throws for the Saints with 8:46 remaining, fueled the game-clinching run in the second half  for Maryville.

Trevecca pulled to within eight points (65-57) with 1:10 remaining following a JP Nyadaro dunk but it would be the closest they would get the rest of the way.

Maryville hit 39.1% (18-of-46) from the field but really earned its money at the free throw line converting 27-of-33 (81.8%). The Saints out-rebounded the Trojans 35-28 and held a 14-5 advantage in second-chance points.

The Trojans hit 21-of-49 (42.9%) from the field but were just 5-of-17 (29.4%) from three-point range.

TNU will look to bounce back Dec. 1 as they travel to McKendree University (2-3).
