Trevecca Drops G-MAC Championship, Awaits NCCAA Bid

CEDARVILLE, Ohio – The Trevecca volleyball team (23-14) lost the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championship match to top-seed and host Cedarville (32-6) 17-25, 26-24, 16-25, 13-25 on Saturday Cedarville's Callan Athletic Center. The Yellow Jackets are the first-ever G-MAC champions. Second-seeded Trevecca will await word on a possible at large bid to the 2012 NCCAA Championships.

Trevecca was led by 2012 G-MAC Player  of the Year Kristen Johnson and her 17th triple-double of the year. Johnson had a triple-double in the semifinals and finals of the G-MAC tournament. Today she produced 14 kills, 15 assists, and 10 digs. Senior Jenna Robertson, in what could be her final collegiate match, added a 10 kill effort along with a .276 attack percentage, a service ace and two solo blocks .Caroline Gay led the team with 17 assists and Shelby Sorce led the team with 23 digs.

As a team Trevecca had a .161 attack percentage while the team had a .318 attack percentage in the second set. It was the only set the Trojans won and did so with 20 kills against six errors in 44 attacks. The Trojan best attack percentage in the other three sets was a .152 attack percentage in the third set.

This is the fourth 20 –win team in coach Jayme Crowley's five-year tenure at Trevecca. Only her 2009 team has produced more wins when they finished 25-13. Eleven of the last 15 Trevecca teams have won at least 20 matches.

Coach Crowley has produced a 107-72 overall record and is 40-23 in conference play. Her postseason record is now 10-9.

Trevecca should learn by Monday if they will be considered for an at large bid to the NCCAA National Championships.
