Box Score HENDERSON, Tenn. – Freed-Hardeman University (10-7) rallied to a 3-2 victory over Trevecca Nazarene University (14-10) Tuesday night at Smith-Kirk Court in a non-conference women's volleyball match.

The Trojans led 2-1 after three sets before the Lady Lions captured the fourth and fifth sets to secure the victory.

Fernanda Ferreira amassed a match-high 31 kills and collected 13 digs for Freed-Hardeman. Renata Ferreira handed out a match-high 41 assists while Callie West paced the Lady Lions defense with 24 digs.

Jenna Robertson and Kristen Johnson led the Trojans with 13 kills each. Johnson also had 21 assists that were tied for the team lead with Caroline Gay. Loren Bennett paced TNU's defense with 30 digs.

In the first set, the Lady Lions would lead throughout holding their biggest advantage at 21-13 following an attack error by TNU. The Trojans would rally to cut the deficit to two points (24-22) but a Ferreira kill would end the first set in favor of FHU 25-22.

Trevecca would bounce back to capture the next two sets over Freed-Hardeman. In the second set, Shelby Sorce and Robertson would each tally three kills. It was back and forth until a 3-0 run gave FHU a 20-17 lead.

TNU's Jayme Crowley quelled the run with a timeout and her team would respond. The Trojans would tie the match at 21 following an attack error from Allie Moss and then take the lead for good following an error by Ferreira.

The third set saw the Trojans lead throughout while the Lady Lions would tie the match three times (10-10; 11-11; 12-12). After Moss tied the match at 12 with her kill, the Trojans would go on a 3-0 run aided by two FHU errors and a Persephonie Devereaux kill. TNU would lead the rest of the way and win 25-20.

Needing to win the fourth set to avoid being defeated, Freed-Hardeman would respond. With the match tied 12-12, the Lady Lions would go on an 8-3 run to give them the biggest of the set (20-15). Ferreira, Moss and Kara England would each tally two kills to lead FHU. Trevecca pulled the set to two points after a Johnson kill, however, Ferreira would force a fifth set with her kill to bring the score to 25-22.

In the fifth set, the Lady Lions would jump out to a 10-4 lead and never look back. They were aided by four Trojan errors in the run and would win 15-10. Ferreira had a third of her team's points (5) in the final set to lead her team.

Trevecca returns to action Oct. 11 as they host Cumberland University (7-16) at the Trojan Fieldhouse for a 6 p.m. match.
