Box Score JACKSON, Tenn. - The 22nd-ranked Trevecca baseball team (35-22) saw its run at the 2011 TranSouth Baseball Championships come to an end Friday afternoon with a 13-4 loss to Bethel University (26-21-2) at Fesmire Field on the campus of Union University.

The Wildcats scored in three of the first four innings to take a 5-2 lead into the fifth inning, with the Trojans' runs coming by way of an RBI single off the bat of Michael Maxwell in the third and an RBI double by Jordan Foreman in the fourth.

Bethel pushed the lead to 8-2 with three runs in the seventh, and the Trojans got one back in the eighth on a solo home run by Zach Polzin, his third of the season. But any hope of a Trojan comeback was put to rest in the top of the ninth, as the Wildcats scored five runs on only three hits to put the game out of reach.

Trae Weiss and Chad Reynolds had two hits apiece to lead the Trojan offense, with Foreman, Maxwell, Polzin, and Reynolds accounting for the runs batted in. Trevecca scored four runs on nine hits, while committing three errors and stranding 11 runners on base. Bethel scored 13 runs on eight hits, with two errors and nine men left on base.

Craig Stem (8-4) took the loss for the Trojans, allowing five runs on five hits in six innings of work, with five strikeouts and five walks. Jacob Hatchel (2-1) picked up the victory for the Wildcats.

Trevecca will now wait for the announcement of the list of qualifiers for the 2011 NAIA National Championship Opening Round, which will take place on May 8.
