Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The #RV Trevecca baseball team (30-19, 14-5 TranSouth) dropped a 10-8 decision to Bethel University (22-17-2, 8-11 TranSouth) Friday afternoon at Jackson Field.

Despite the fact that the Trojans belted three home runs on the afternoon, they were not able to overcome the Wildcats' 18-hit attack in dropping the opener of the final home series of the season.

Bethel scored four runs on four hits in the first inning, but they were also aided by three Trojan errors. Chad Reynolds cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the inning with his fourth home run of the season, a two-run shot over the wall in left that made it 4-2.

The Wildcats added another run in the second, and it remained 5-2 until the sixth. That's when the Trojans got their second home run of the game, a solo shot off the bat of Matt Tidwell to make it 5-3. But the Trojans didn't stop there, added two more runs in the seventh on RBI singles by Tidwell and Jordan Foreman to tie the game 5-5 heading to the eighth inning.

Unfortunately, the momentum was short-lived, as Bethel bounced right back with three runs on four hits in the eighth to re-take the lead, 8-5. But the Trojans rallied once more, scoring twice in the bottom of the inning to make it a one-run game again. Mitch McClay reached on an error to lead off the inning, and two outs later Matt Dobbins smacked a 3-1 pitch off Wildcat reliever Gavin Lindsey high over the wall in left to make it 8-7, Dobbins' second home run of the season. Edwin Borbon followed with a single and a stolen base, but Foreman struck out swinging to end the inning.

Bethel again gave itself a little breathing room, scoring two more runs on four more hits in the ninth, and the Trojans could only manage to get one back in the bottom of the inning on a sacrifice fly by Reynolds before McClay grounded out to end the game.

Tidwell went 3-5 with a home run, two RBI, and two runs. No one else in the Trojan lineup had more than one hit, but Reynolds had three RBI and Dobbins had two.

BJ Boston started and pitched the first 4.2 innings, with Caleb Longshore and Dylan Kuhn (3-3) finishing up in relief. Lindsey (3-1) picked up the win in relief for the Wildcats.

The teams will wrap up the series with a doubleheader Saturday at Noon. Senior Day ceremonies to honor Trevecca's eight senior baseball players will take place between games.
 
The Trojans will conclude the regular season with a three-games series at No. 16 Union (32-10, 14-4 TranSouth) April 28-29.
