Box Score 2 GULF SHORES, Ala. - NAIA No. 9 Trevecca won their first two games at the 2011 Gulf Shores Invitational. In game one Trevecca defeated No. 10 Shorter University (9-4) 6-2 and then defeated #RV McKendree University (4-4) 5-3.ÂÂ
The tournament serves as a 2011 NAIA Softball National Championship preview, as the University of Mobile will host nationals at the Sportsplex May 19-25, along with the Alabama Gulf Coast Sports Commission. Thirteen of the 28 teams in the event are ranked in the NAIA Top 25 or are recieving votes.

GAME ONETrevecca took a 1-0 lead on Shorter with a run in the top of the fourth inning. Shorter bounced back with a run in the fifth, but Trevecca sealed the win with a five-run sixth. A seventh-inning Shorter rally was held to just one run.
The Trojans scored six runs on nine hits while the Hawks scored two runs on six hits.
Lauren Baker (5-0) was in the circle for the Trojans and pitched a complete game. The junior allowed six hits, four walk, two runs, and struck out three. Kristen Little (2-3) took the loss for the Hawks. Little allowed nine hits, a walk, and six runs while striking out two. Little was relieved after 5.2 innings of work. Libby Munson pitched the final 1.1 innings.
Breanna Zeis was 2-4 with a two doubles, two RBI, and a run scored.
Kari Mason was 2-4 with a triple and three RBI.
Karli Rush was 1-3 with a double and a walk.
GAME TWOTrevecca improved to 10-0 with a four-run inning an then a single run in the seventh. Trevecca produced their five runs with eight hits. McKendree scored a run in the fifth and two in the seventh. The Bearcats had six hits that produced their three runs and committed on error.
Riley Mashburn (4-0) was the winner for Trevecca in the circle. The junior allowed three runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out seven Bearcats. BethAnn Swartz (1-2) took the loss after giving up eight hits and a walk while striking out seven Trojans.
Haylee Rogers was 2-3 for Trevecca and added a double, triple, and a run.
Lauren Baker was 1-3 with a double, and
Breanna Zeis was 1-2 with an RBI and a walk.
On Saturday the Trojans will face Louisiana State-Alexandria (5-10) at 11 a.m., #18 Brenau University (11-0) at 3 p.m., and #RV Southern Nazarene (15-5) 5 p.m.
Trevecca returns home for a pair of games with Rogers State (19-3) on Tuesday (3/15) at 4 p.m. ÂÂ
