Box Score 2 MCKENZIE, Tenn. - A late rally by the Trevecca men's basketball team fell just short, as the Trojans (11-15, 5-9 TranSouth) fell to Bethel (18-10, 7-7 TranSouth) 70-66 Monday night.
The Trojans trailed by seven at the half (39-32), despite shooting better than 44% from the field. The Wildcats shot 47% in the opening half and out-rebounded Trevecca 21-15, while committing just eight turnovers.
It looked like the Wildcats would pull away to an easy victory as they led by double digits for much of the second half, but credit the Trojans for continuing to battle, eventually clawing their way back within two points in the final minutes. But Bethel withstood the rally, hit their free throws late, and held on for the win.
For the game, Trevecca shot 41% (24-58) from the field, 28% (5-18) from 3-point range, and just 50% (13-26) from the charity stripe. The Wildcats shot 42% (28-67) from the floor, just 9% (1-11) from beyond the 3-point line, and 62% (13-21) from the line.
Michael France led the Trojans with 22 points, and added four rebounds and four assists.
Marquise Rudolph added 20 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Andre Crudup paced three Wildcats in double figures with 19.
Trevecca will hit the road again Thursday for a matchup with No. 14 Union (24-5, 13-2 TranSouth). Tip-off at Fred DeLay Gymnasium is at 8 p.m.
