Box Score 2 DAYTON, Tenn. - The No. 9 Trevecca (2-0) softball team is playing four games over two days at the Bryan college Invitational at the Delaware Park near the Bryan campus in Dayton, Tenn.
Trevecca won the first game 8-5 over fellow TranSouth conference member Mid-Continent University (1-1). The Trojans led the non-conference game 5-0 before the cougars scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Both teams scored three runs in the seventh. Trevecca scored one in the first inning, two in the second, and one each in the third and fourth.
Trevecca had 11 hits and no errors. Mid-Continent had eight hits.
Riley Mashburn (1-0) picked up the win with five innings of work. Mashburn didn't allow an earned run and allowed just one hit, two walks while striking out four Cougars. Kaylee Blankenship (0-1) took the loss for MCU.ÂÂ
Lauren Baker was 2-4 with a home run and an RBI.
Breanna Zeis was 1-4 with a home run and two RBI. Mashburn was 1-3 and added a home run and three RBI.
Karli Rush was 2-4 with an RBI.
Haylee Rogers was 2-3 with a double.
In their second game Trevecca defeated Olivet Nazarene (1-1) 8-0 in seven innings.

Trevecca took a 1-0 lead with a run in the top of the third inning. Trevecca added five insurance runs in the top of the sixth and two more in the seventh for an 8-0 final. Trevecca had 10 hits and one error. Olivet had four hits and three errors.
Lauren Baker (1-0) pitched a complete game shutout and allowed four hits and two walks while striking out 11 Tigers. Olivet's Kelly Blucker (0-1) took the loss, pitching the complete game. Blucker struck out five Trojans and walked one.
In the third,
Haylee Rogers reached on a single and advanced to second when
Heather Shuler reached on an error. Both runners advanced on an infield grounder by
Kari Mason. Rogers scored on a
Kelsey Lantrip groundout.
Lantrip doubled to lead off the five-run sixth inning and scored on a 2-run homer by
Monica West. The next four Trojan batters (
Karli Rush,
Lauren Baker,
Breanna Zeis, and
Melinda Patterson) all reached on singles.
Tori Hulan, running for Rush, scored on Patterson's single. Baker (on a Rogers sac fly) and Zeis (on an error) also scored.
The two-run seventh featured a Baker walk, a Zeis double, and another Patterson single.
Zeis was 2-4 with two runs scored, a double, and an RBI. Lantrip was 1-4 with a run scored, a double, and an RBI. Patterson was 2-4 with two RBI.ÂÂ
The Trojans will play the host Bryan college Lions (0-10) in a 5 p.m. game. On Saturday the Trojans are set to play Young Harris College (3-4) at 8 a.m.
