Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Trevecca Trojans (9-10, 3-4 TranSouth) nearly overcame a 21-point second half
deficit, but came up just short, falling to No. 17 Union (18-4, 7-1 TranSouth) 68-65 Thursday night at Moore Gym.
The game started with a bucket by Union's Roland Banhoro, and with the Trojans struggling to score early in the contest, the Bulldogs had a 16-5 lead with 11:34 left in the half. Trevecca continued to struggle offensively, scoring only 12 more points the rest of the half, and a 3-point basket by Union's CJ Davis sent the Bulldogs to the locker room with a 34-17 lead.
The teams traded baskets for most of second half, with the Bulldogs taking their largest lead of the night at 59-38 with 7:43 left in the game. But that's when the Trojans began their rally. Trevecca would outscore Union 27-8 over the next 6:10, with
Michael France capping off the run on a fast break layup off an assist from
Marquise Rudolph that cut the Union lead to 67-65 with 1:33 left. But the Trojans would not score another point, and Samuel Danache's free throw with 1:06 left provided the final margin.
For the game, the Trojans shot 47% (24-51) from the field, 38% (8-21) from 3-point range, and 69% (9-13) from the line. Union shot 46% (24-52) from the floor, 37% (7-19) from beyond the 3-point line, and 62% (13-21) from the charity stripe. The Bulldogs outrebounded the Trojans 32-27, including 11-7 on the offensive glass.
France paced three Trojans in double figures with a game-high 18 points,
Jeremy Dixon added 14, and
Rudolph added 11. Union also placed three players in double figures, with Davis leading the way with 17.

Trevecca hits the road Saturday, traveling to Pulaski, Tenn., for a matchup with No. 8 Martin Methodist (18-1, 5-1 TranSouth). Tip-off is at 4 p.m.
