Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Trevecca volleyball team (4-5) wrapped up play in the inaugural Scott Jones Classic Saturday with a loss to Cumberland University (8-0) by scores of 22-25, 25-21, 25-19, 24-26, and 10-15.
The Trojans controlled play for the majority of game one, leading 20-15 and looking like they would take a 1-0 lead in the match. But a 10-2 run for the Bulldogs put the game away. In game two, Cumberland scored two quick points and it looked like the momentum had carried over from the end of game one, but the Trojans came back to win 25-21 and continued their hot streak by taking game three 25-19. Game four was a back-and-forth affair that Cumberland was able to pull out 26-24 and the Bulldogs put the match away with a 15-10 win in game five to win the inaugural Scott Jones Volleyball Classic at Trevecca Nazarene University.
Cassidy Watkins paced the attack with 23 kills,
Brooke Cannon had 40 assists, 11 digs, and five kills.
Shelby Sorce had 18 digs and
Kristen Johnson added 16 digs, eight kills, and four assists.
The Trojans return to the court Thursday, Sept. 9, with a TranSouth Conference match against Mid-Continent (1-3, 0-1) at Moore Gym.
