Box Score 2 CLEVELAND Tenn. - The Trojan volleyball team (6-6, 1-1 TranSouth) split a pair of matches at the Lee Invitational on Saturday.
In Trevecca's first match, Savannah College of Arts and Design (5-4) defeated the Trojans 12-25, 23-25, 21-25. The Bees were receiving votes in the preseason NAIA Top 25. SCAD set the tone by dominating the opening set with a .357 kill percentage while Trevecca had just five kills in 30 attempts with seven errors for a -0.067 kill percentage. Trevecca turned the page in the second set, leading most of the way. In fact, TNU led 22-21 before the Bees rallied for the late win. The final set was mostly controlled by SCAD, despite a late rally by the Trojans.
Brooke Cannon had 24 assists for TNU while
Cassidy Watkins (12) was the only Trojan with double figure kills and tied Cannon with a team-high nine digs. ÂÂ
Trevecca bounced back to earn a split on the day with a 25-18, 25-19, 25-15 win over Belhaven University (6-5). Trevecca had a .306 kill percentage in the opening set and turned it up to .375 in the second set. Watkins produced 16 kills for a personal .325 kill percentage for the entire match.
Kristen Johnson had 10 kills and just one error in 25 attempts for a .360 kill percentage.
Maddie Burford also added double figure kills with 11. Cannon had 38 assists and eight digs. Johnson (11) and
Shelby Sorce (10) led the team in digs.
Haley White had three service aces and eight digs.
Trevecca will return to conference play with a visit to Martin Methodist (5-6, 1-1) on Tuesday at 7 p.m.ÂÂ
