Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Trojan baseball team (29-20, 7-10 TSAC) split a double header with NAIA No. 20 Union University (34-13, 11-5 TSAC) winning 6-5 in game one before falling 10-2 in the second.
The teams will conclude the series with a single nine-inning game on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. Saturday will be Senior Day for Trevecca's five senior baseball players -
Trey Morrison,
Brad Gooch,
Tim Dunn,
Chris Sutherland, and
Jerry Young.
In game one, Trevecca scored a run in the second.
Chad Reynolds reached with one out on a Union error and advanced to second on a
Brad Gooch single.
Trey Morrison followed with an RBI-single that scored Reynolds.
In the third the Trojans made it a 2-0 game when
Matt Tidwell hit a solo home run to lead off the inning.
The Bulldogs tied the game 2-2 in the top of the fourth. Josh Jones singled and scored on a Alex Turner double. Turner advanced to third on a wild pitch to David Maristany who then singled to center driving in the tying run.
Trevecca regained the lead at 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth when Morrison reached on a one-out single.
Luke Fennell advanced MOrrison to second on a fielders choice.
Chase Birdwell doubled down the left field line to score MOrrison.
Union used a three-run home run from Maristany in top of the sixth to take what looked like a commanding 5-3 lead.
Trevecca bounced back again to tie the game in the bottom of the sixth. Gooch reached on a fielder's choice and scored on a Morrison double. Morrison reached third on a
Kyle Pfirrman ground out and then scored on a Birdwell single.
The Trojans won it in the bottom of the seventh after Tidwell reached on a walk and later scored on a bases loaded single by Morrison.
Tidwell was 3-3 with two runs scored, an RBI, a walk, a home run, and a double.
Trey Morrison was 4-4 with two runs, three RBI, and a pair of doubles.
Chase Birdwell was 2-2 with a double, and two RBI.
B.J. Boston started for Trevecca and pitched 5.1 innings allowing six hits, four runs, and two walks while striking out six.
Jerry Young (3-2) pitched the seventh for the win. Young allowed a walk and struck out one Bulldog for the win.
Trevecca had 12 hits and one error. Union had seven hits and one error.
In game two, Union came out on fire scoring two in the top of the first, four in the second, one in the third, two in the fourth, and one in the fifth for a 10-0 lead. Trevecca scored their two runs in the bottom of the fifth for the final score of 10-2.
Matt Tidwell was 1-4 with two RBI with a two-run double.
Brad Gooch was 1-3 with a double and chase Birdwell was 1-1 with a stolen base, a run scored, and a walk.
Kyle Pfirrman (6-6) took the loss with just one inning of work. Trevecca had five hits and three errors while Union had 14 hits and no errors.
