Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MAYFIELD, Ky. - The Trevecca Trojan softball team (22-7, 4-0 TranSouth) completed a perfect weekend with a doubleheader sweep of Mid-continent (3-15-1, 0-4) Saturday afternoon, taking the first game 3-0 and the nightcap 2-1.

The first game was scoreless until the Trojans broke through with two runs in the top of the fifth inning, courtesy of a double by Monica West and a bunt by Lauren Baker that both runners ultimately came around to score on due to fielding miscues by the Cougars. That was more than enough for starting pitcher Riley Mashburn, although the Trojans tacked on another run in the top of the seventh on a sac fly by Baker.

Mashburn (12-3) went the distance, giving up just one hit, while striking out three and walking just one batter. Kelly Fougerousse (1-4) took the loss for Mid-Continent. West went 2-3 with two doubles and a run scored, while Baker scored the other two runs and drove in a run with the sac fly.

In game two, the Trojans jumped on top 1-0 in the first inning as Kelsey Lantrip walked and eventually came around to score on a Cougar error. MCU tied the game in the fourth inning on back-to-back doubles by Amanda Hostettler and Amber Rapert, but the Trojans got that run right back in the fifth inning on freshman Brooke Brennan's first home run of her Trevecca career and pitcher Lauren Baker made it stand up for the Trojan victory.

Baker (10-4) gave up seven hits and just one run, striking out seven with just one walk. Victoria Spindor (2-2) pitched well, but still suffered the loss for the Cougars.

Trevecca returns home Monday afternoon for a doubleheader with Oakland City University  (10-10) at 4 p.m.
